TOPIC: ISSUE214 - "Society should identify those children who have special talents and abilities and begin training them at an early age so that they can eventually excel in their areas of ability. Otherwise, these talents are likely to remain undeveloped."

In this statement, the author claims that society should identify those children who have special talents and abilities and begin training them at an early age in order to ensure them can excel in their areas of ability eventually. It might be tempting to agree with the author. Yet, it is hard to identify a talent and find a suitable way for them for the reason that there are numerous factors affect talent.

Admittedly, for some children who are talented in some areas, we need some measure to train them and foster them to be elites in the future. If we foster their talents in a good training way, they might be successful when they are young. For example, University of Science and Technology of China, one of the most famous universities in China, has set a special class for gifted young, only 12 years old, which trained a lot of distinguished scientists, such as the youngest Fellow of IEEE. Or consider, Beethoven showed his talent when he was young and performed for the first time when he was only 8 years old. Similarly, Mozart had a great performance around the country when he was 6 years old with his ten years old sister after his talent has been identified.

Simultaneously, not only does talented child need technology or art training, but also the education of psychology and sociology to improve their social ability and help them build a good value of world. Conversely, there are a lot of  children who have special talents and what they do become detrimental for society. For example, hacker who has a talent of computer and programme designing will invade the official website and personal computer. Or consider, some talented biologists make the biological weapon which will jeopardize the safe of world. Accordingly, we also need to train their other fields knowledge.

However, it is so hard to identify a child whether a child is potential and talented or not. We could not just them merely by IQ test or EQ test which might turn to incorrect. For example, Einstein, when he was a child, there were no people thought that he was a genius or had some talents. Yet, in the future, no one can deny that he is the greatest scientist in 20th century for the study of Relativity and Photoelectric Effect. Moreover we could not rule out the possibility that some kids perform talented at an early age or with a high IQ; but become indifferent finally. In short, ostensible identification might be hasty and not credible.

Moreover, there are a lot of other factors that might affect one's success and talent. Admittedly, genetic reason is very important for achievement, however, we could not deny that diligence would play a cardinal role in it. As the Mendeleyev, greatest Russian chemist, said,"Genius only means hard-working all one's life". Consider, for example, Haydon, who had been identified when he was young. Yet, finally he became the "Three greatest composure of Vienna classical music" with Beethoven and Mozart through his hard-working.

In sum, society have the responsibility to train those talented children at an early age. However, what more significant is how we identify them and train them. If we train them in a wrong way, they might be jeopardize our society conversely.
