写的时候以为自己写的很多呢，下来才那么点字数。：（ 我的观点有没有问题啊？我想的时候觉得挺对的，又是越写越觉得不对。

In this issue, a hard problem is made by speaker, who can decided the greatness of individuals? Those who live after them or their contemporaries? The speaker incline to the later, and I partly agree with his view. Yet, in my view, in order to evaluate the greatness of individuals objectively, the later generation's evaluation should combine contemporaries’.

First, the evaluation of contemporaries has important influence for the development of contemporary, no matter right or wrong. In the science of technologies realm, the positive evaluation of contemporary is necessary for the researchers. Not only can it encourage the research to study wider and deeper, but also it can consolidate the confidence of study. And the negative ones can correct the wrong aim and methods of study. So does in other realm, such as art, politics, and education. Due to the evaluation of contemporary, our study can steadily develop.

However, not all contemporaries’ evaluation is proved to be right and not all the research and study can get right or objective evaluation of contemporaries, because of the cause of limited knowledge and technology, old mind of some people and so on. For instance, in 1926, the Nobel Prize of physiology and medicine are accepted by the Pathologist Fibiger, for his great discovery that the cause of stomach tumor is a kind of worm. However, after several decades, the discovery was proved to be wrong--the worm is related to the stomach papilloma rather than tumor. So, the later generation's evaluation is unnecessary. These new evaluation threw out the restriction of old technology and mind and are made from a new standing-point, they will be more objective and accurate.

On the other hand, I think mere the evaluation from the later generations is inadequate. In order to solve the problem, we must define the greatness first. If we defined the greatness as some one's correct mind, it is unjust, because in our study, the mistakes are gotten far more than the truth. In my definition, the greatness should be defined as the researches one got which bring us to truth. I can witness it with the example of Fibiger I referred to above. Although he cannot discover the true cause of stomach cancer, the later generations proved that the cause of stomach papilloma is the worm discovered by Fibiger and did the more deep study of it later. Due to Fibiger found the worm in stomach; we found the real cause of stomach papilloma.

In sum, as discussion of the article above, only the contemporaries, or only the later generations cannot evaluate the greatness of individual objectively and accurately. When we, the later generations, evaluate some person, we should combine the ancestors’’ evaluation.
