题目:ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
In this statement, the just laws must be obeyed by each person in any one society as for their duties, meanwhile it is more significant not to conform and reverse to the unjust laws. For my part, I agree with the author partly. If the laws are more widely considered to be just, every individual should entirely obey as a duty. While some laws might be unreasonable to most people of the society, thus such laws should be disobeyed. And in some sense it is too difficult to judge whether a law is just or unjust.
To begin with, each resident in a society should conform and obey the laws and regulations by their hearts, especially the just ones. The laws and regulations are categorized to be just, in some degree the most individuals in the society will admit the laws and regulations to be just and easily accepted. And such just laws will contribute strongly to the interests of the main part of people all over the society. In the first place, the just laws and regulations must be designed chiefly to protect the society from the disorder. Consider, for example, the regulation of controlling the pollution of the air will be designed mainly to protect the environment which human live in and rely on and it also play an important role to improve the resident's health. In the second place, some laws will punish some crime behaviors in order to make other people's safety and legal rights deserve protection in large degree. For example, some officers might use a great deal of money which is owned to the country and they aim to attain more extra interest with these money for themselves. Thus the just laws should punish and prohibit such conducts severely.
However, if the law is indeed the unjust, the people should disobey, even the law should be resisted. The law which is unjust should have the bad effect to the society a certain extent and the individuals, it might undermine much interest of the most members of the society. Therefore, such laws must be prohibited since it damages the harmonious of the society. For instance, Hitler had designed an unfair law to kill the Jews and expected to destroy this race. An increasing number of Jews were slaughtered during the Second World War. This was very unjust that it robbed the legal rights for the survival to Jews. Thereby, the just power of the whole world was associated together to struggle with this unjust law.
Finally, whether a law is just or unjust is not clearly to be judged. The fairness of the laws depends largely on the individual's attitude to the value system. When it involves people freedoms, this viewpoint will be accepted. Take an example to show evidence that it is widely discussed whether death punishment is just in every society. Individuals with some kind of religious beliefs might claim such law as unjust. While other people with other attitude to value might view such as just. It is also likely that same laws might be observed with various ways in different countries.
To sum up, if a law can be discerned as just or unjust, the just law must be obeyed and the unjust one must be disobeyed. To abide the just laws can make a society more stable and more accordant. And in any event, the unjust laws which affect the normal order of society must be prohibited. |
