The author calls our attentions to the contributions by groups of people during the study of history. Judging from history, I concede that the public provided certain chances for development, innovation and even revolution. However, it is great individuals that make these advancement turn out to be true. Hence, I state that emphasis on individuals is needed, for through this kind of studying, we can learn several social factors-like the inherent power inside that time, such as efforts by groups of people, as well.

There are two different definitions of individuals and groups appearing in history. Mostly, while the public give rise to requirement for technology, economic and culture development, forming social ambiance and chances for those advancement, individuals are prone to opening the doors of progress. The great individuals render real innovation and revolution in the process of civilization, serving as key points and milestones. Consider industrial revolution for example, the high accumulation of factories and intensive productive competitions, called for inventions for more sophisticated machines to figure out conflicts between resources and production. Scientists as individuals at that time, has solved these problems. In turn, great individuals regarded as dots, which are supported by social background made by the public to link with each other, and history exists as a line formed by numerous dots.

Following this point aforementioned, emphasizing on individuals is the key of the study of history. The contributions of great individuals from diverse fields of history, should be reminded during the study of history. From science to art, from technology to culture, the greatness of individuals have been setting excellent examples and marks on that time, which we the descendents should not forget. Simply put, learning history according to the individual achievements, though it is somehow incomplete but it brings deep understanding and easily making out.

Meanwhile, placing emphasis on individuals does not mean to ignore some factors coming from the influence of public. What individual people contribute to the society reflects the social needs and conditions during their own era. Gazing deep into researching of the great individuals, the studies will construct as the parts as individuals and the other parts as historic background, which proves to be integrated study of history.  In other words, excessive attentions on individuals offer more insightful scrutiny than only learning the social environment brought by groups.

Admittedly, there are some doubts about more emphasis on individuals, which probably cause subjectiveness and partialness. The study of historic individuals easily makes the history for only great individuals. Nevertheless, I should point out that it is the reason that the researchers adopt incorrect methods. They ignore several backgrounds through the study of individuals actually.

To sum up, emphasis on individuals brings a lot of benefits that the author overlooks. We should reconsider the research of history made by individuals. What individuals influence historic events and trends markedly are numerous great profound invention and advancement, which serve as turning point with the advent of a new page of history.
