The speaker claims that it is not the critic, but the artist, givessociety something of lasting value. In mystandpoint, I primarily agreethis assertion because the lasting value of the art work such as therelaxing, expressing the passion and insight, reflecting the humanity,improve humans lives.

To begin with, the oldest definition of thefunction of the arts is thatthey provide pleasure and relaxing when peoplefeel tension, depressionand distress in their work, study or other aspects.Common sense informsus that listening to the music is the best way to cure ourpsychologicalpains. Enya, who is a worldwide famous singer, is attractive tohersinging career and the reason why she is so attractive and concentratedallpublic's eyes is due to her sound of nature. Enya's work pacifiespeople's mindaway from a rapid pace way of life and a negative emotion,the same time releasing and bringing a pleasure to them.

Meanwhile, the arts also can be devoted as"expressionism"- the artistsuse of a medium to express uniquepassion and insight. Receptors-thosewho are favor of the arts-will obtaindulcet events from the artist'swork. The pianist Franz Liszt, for instance, inthe 1830s to 1840screated a public personality as the great piano virtuoso ofthe era. Themotion acted by Liszt mainly advocates the romanticism as aculture ofthe music. Similar to what mentioned above, in China, a famouspoem"LiqingZhao" in ancient time often wrote a lot of poesies toexpressinfinite love and missing to her beloved, moreover, suchgraceful and  sharpens love are still cited by Chinese toshow love tosomeone else.

Furthermore, some narrative arts instructpeople to some extent. Thisworks reflect the human character. Retrospecthuman's history,Renaissance painting of a Madonna and Angels, for manyviewers, issomehow a revelation of transcendent spirituality; a Beethovensymphonyis the last word on human endurance; Shakespeare's Macbeth teachesusthat inordinate ambition is pernicious. By knowing this, people canconcludeand learn the set of principles of humanity so as to improvethemselves inmoral and human nature.

However, the fact that critics also seem togive a society somethinglasting value should never be neglected. In the firstplace, theydiscover some outstanding arts works and help the public to realizeandcomprehend works with a right point of view. Yet, critics acted anegativefactor, in most cases, to prevent the development of the arts.Since thesecritics' thoughts were restricted by such as conception,belief, even thegovernment, they cannot draw a justifiable, objectiveand reasonable comment onarts works. Take Van Gogh as an example, hisart can reflected problems andphenomenon of a society. One of his mostfamous works called potato reflect themisery and poverty of humanity ashe saw it among the miners in Belgium. What apity is that there was notany critics in contemporaneity recognize the valueof Van Gogh's works.Thus, critics effort more negative factors than theirbenefits to thesociety.

In conclusion, from what has been discussedabove, the assertion from myopinion is that the artist gives the society morelasting value andinfluence human's daily lives, while the critic's work isfailed in mostaspects, though some good effect should be recognize.

In conclusion, from what has been discussed above, the assertion from my opinion is that the artist gives the society more lasting value and influence human's daily lives, while the critic's work is failed in most aspects, though some good effect should be recognize.
