51”Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. “

提纲:
1.教育应该鼓励孩子的兴趣,但是不能过分。
2.兴趣在教育中起很重要的作用。
3.学校不仅应该鼓励孩子兴趣,还要引导他们发现真正的兴趣。
4.过分重视兴趣会有反作用,不能因为一个人有文学兴趣就不让他学习数学等课程,而且有些客观条件也不允许学校满足每个学生的兴趣。
5.教育不仅要鼓励兴趣,也要教育孩子形成价值观和思想。
6.教育要多元。

Only do educators make every effort on meeting students’ needs and interests can let students receive a significantly effective education? The speaker asserts that. I tend to agree the statement insofar as that students’ needs and interests should be encouraged in the process of education, it is inappropriate that educators ignore students’ real favors. However, the speaker seems to fail to take into account the fact that overemphasizing the students’ needs and interests will result in some undesirable problems.

At the first, I undoubtedly agree that all the time interests place critical roles in growth of human beings. Einstein had said: “Interest is the best teacher to people.” Many people make great achievement without having been in classrooms for one minute. They study hard by themselves, conducted to the fields that attracting them by their interests, to make contributions to society consequently. Interests can inspire people to realize what they want, this original power from people’s spirit can make any imagination become true. In addition, one of the important purposes of education is to cultivate the useful people for society’s construction. A well-educated man generally can easily find his position in society, because he has the idea of what his favor is. Consider the example of Copernicus, he at the beginning studied medicine science, but after several years studying, he eventually found he loved astronomy, and then he devoted his all life to astronomy and made great achievement for human beings. So educators should not only make great efforts on encouraging students’ interests, but also concentrate students on forming their own ideas.

Schools should take responsibility to lead students to find their true interests and needs. Actually, many students are not aware of what they want accurately. Educators must take some efforts on feeling students’ interests and encouraging them to do what they like with right methods. It is good to provide some elective courses to help students cultivate their interests.

On the other hand, some undesirable problems will be brought if schools take overemphasis on meeting students’ interests. Not only do students need interests, but also they should be guided into the right field. If one has a gift for literature, of course we should encourage him to read and write literal works as possible as he can, however, just because this, should not he be called for studying mathematics? Encouraging interests can not be equal with education. Education’s most important purpose is to form students’ value and make them reasonable. Education that nothing can take the place of takes the role of cultivating people having a societal idea in growth of life. One can have no interest in any field, but there is no possible for him to live in the society if he has no mind and idea to his life. What’s more, there are some practical reasons for schools that can not overemphasize the interests, such as the number of teachers, schools’ hardware, and for instance, money. Moreover, everyone’s interests may be changed in every period of his growth, which also makes it unrealizable to overemphasize students any interests.

In addition, it is dangerous that one has no idea about general-knowledge but his major subject. An obvious example to my mind is that one of my neighbors named Roy, who is studying in Qinghua University which is the best university in china, is good at computer but could not do any housework such as washing clothes and making some fundamental food. He even does not know that commit arson is illegal. It is necessary for these kinds of people to provide comprehensive education, otherwise, they will accomplish little to society.

To sum up, the speaker’s assertion is partly reasonable that we actually should encourage students’ interests with our efforts, however, the speaker ignores that encouraging students’ interests is not equal with education. Education must become multidimensional for students, so that they can get habits of thinking with proper methods. Idea actually is as important as technology in society. If one can combine both of them, he is possible to make accomplishment to society.
