Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development.
限时
When asked about that whether government should place few restrictions on scientific research and development, people may find it hard to come to consensus due to their different experience and position. The speaker thinks that government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development, while some others think not. From my perspective, I partially agree with the speaker.
No one can deny that the advantages of research and development are important to human beings. With the advanced technology, our society is developed quickly. Depending on the advantages of research and development, people are living a convenient life and save time at the same time. For example, we can transfer to other countries through the advanced transformation easily, but if we do not have the research and development, we may only dream other countries but never arrive at them. In addition, the advantages of research and development also create profits to our country. So we know, not only the citizens but also our country all connects with research and development.
Few restrictions on scientific research and development will let people develop and promote the level of science easily. In this way, scientists will do their best to the development of technology and they can achieve their goals. Jonestrone, president and CEO of MAT, a distinguished and well-known company in Massachusetts, illustrates this brilliantly in the following quotes (and I paragraph)," Only when the government place few restrictions on scientific research and development, the scientists can do their most contributions to our country." For instance, in Bruno's era, many people believed that the earth was the center of the universe. Regardless of a long period of imprisonment, Bruno claimed that the universe is infinite, which outraged the religious community, and Bruno was sentenced to death eventually. For few restrictions on scientific research and development, the scientists may contribute to their country more easily.
Scientific research and development can be a double-edged sword over human beings. If not properly controlled, it brought disasters to us. Although scientific research has produced substantial social benefits, it has also posed several troubling ethical problems. Public attention was drawn to reported abuses of human subjects in biomedical experiments, especially during the Second World War. The physicians and scientists who had conducted biomedical experiments on concentration camp prisoners were judged guilty in trials. What's more, clone is thought to be quite promising in gene savings. However, human cloning is not only dangerous technically but also perilous to the morality and ethics, thus many people call for to banning human cloning for reproductive purposes and even any purpose. Nevertheless, some scientists, in spite of moral and ethical standards, insist on doing experiments on cloning humans stealthily. Above this, the disadvantages of research and development are also very clearly, so our government also should take some measures on scientific research and development.
To sum up, due to the aforementioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive than any single of them, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that government should place some restrictions on scientific research and development when it is necessarily. |
