Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, with the development of modern movie industry, movies are increasingly becoming a dispensable part of our life. Generally speaking, there are two major types of movie products-serious movie and amusing movie. Most people enjoy watching the amusing ones simply for they can fall into the light entertainment. However, I strongly hold the opposite oppinion and the reasons are that serious movies can drive to consider, to deeply think about every aspect of life, such as hope, responsibility,  environment and so on.

First, serious movies make me to know the value of hope. "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of it." is a extraordinarily famous line in Shawshank's Redemption. In the movie, the promising young banker Andy Durflei was accused of murder his wife and her lover. He was unfairly stentenced a life prison into the prison Shawshanks and lost his wealth, fame, even future all of a sudden. However, Andy never discarded his hope and never stoped working and learning even in the endless jail life. Eventually, through twenty-year's hard work, he escaped from Shawshanks successfully. The content ot this movie greatly inspires me the significance of the hope. No matter how difficut I was trapped in, I would never lose my diretion and  the belief that I could handle all of these would be always in my mind.

Second, more deeply understanding of responsibility could be acquired from serious movies. Brave Heart had brought a worldwide extolling of the brilliant social resoponsibility. Patriotism, certainly one of the major themes in this movie, really gave me a big shock. It did exist in everyone's bottom idea, it however did not show up because the outside condition was not serious to such a high level. When it reached, the patriotism lied in our deep mind would wake up spontaneously, and people would struggle to the best of their ability. The great earthquake of May twelfth in Sichuan province, for instance, directly matched what I am getting at. Right after the disaster, people all over the country took action to save the surivial. Generous donation of large amount of money, huge numer of individuals queuing for donating blood and the list will on, can easily be seen nationwide.

Finally, environmental problem can be shown to us in a much more vivid way through serious movies. The day afer tomorrow was one of the most successful disaster movies. The severe catastrophe resulted from the excessive exploitation of natural resources was put right before my eyes. I could not be frightened by the worst circumstances I would face in the future if we human continued these way to deal with the natural resources. Quoted from the lines of the movie,"We used to operate under the belief that we could consume our natural resources, without any consequence, but in fact we are wrong", provied a appropriate statement towards general public's attitude of the natural resources' utilization. Therefore, seious movies of this kind should be paid more attention for the goal of the preservation of our lovely Earth.
