In this argument, the president concludes that in order to reduce costs, they should build a new large central plant, and Grandview should be an ideal location for new large central plant. To support his conclusion, the president cites three reasons: (1) Grandview has the largest adult population; (2) average wage earned by workers is less than that in other locations; (3) they do not need to pay city taxes in the first three years. However, this conclusion relies on a series of unsubstantiated assumptions, and is therefore unpersuasive as it stands.

To begin with, the president fails to provide any evidence to support that to build a new central plant and close existing small assembly plants will bring in reduction in costs. Perhaps it reached a balance between supply and demand of medicine equipments in the areas where those plants located in, therefore save large amount money on transportation fee. In reverse, to build a new large central plant will ruin this benign circulation, and will afford a great deal of money on transportation costs, inevitably. Moreover, perhaps it will cost a lot of money on high-standard equipments which will deal with a mass of information such as the order forms and invoices, only operating in one central plant. Lacking more detailed information, the president cannot justifiably conclude that the construction of a new large central plant will reduce costs.

Furthermore, the president commits a fallacy of confusion about two concepts—adult population and the population who suit to work in high-tech medical equipment plant. Perhaps it will need more skills than other industries, and maybe the adults lack these required skills and unsuitable to work there. In that case, they cannot recruit desirable workers quickly and easily. Or perhaps it will need to retrain these unqualified workers since they cannot recruit enough suitable employees to run the new plant at the minimum level. Thus, this reason is unwarranted.

Thirdly, the president unfairly assumes that they should be able to keep production cost low only because the average wage earned by workers in Grandview is less than that in other locations. Required skills vary from one industry to other industry, therefore, the minimum wage vary in different jobs. Perhaps the plant must raise their labor’s income since they pay out more on their jobs than any other plants. So, the reason that they can keep a low production cost is problematic.

Finally, the president fails to take into account other possibilities about the city taxes paying. Maybe the city taxes in Grandview are much higher than other cities, so it will cost a big deal of money in the later years after the first three. And maybe some other cities’ councils will afford them even more advantages. Without further data involved in other cities, the president cannot reach that conclusion above.

In sum, this argument depends on many questionable assumptions which make it little persuasion. To strengthen it, the president should provide more detailed information about the advantages of build a central plant. To better assess the argument, I would need more information about the skill level of the residents in Grandview and the average wage earned by there employees in medicine industry. And I would also want to know whether the taxes in Grandview will not be an economic burden in the long run.

Furthermore, the president commits a fallacy of confusion about two concepts—adult population and the population who suit to work in high-tech medical equipment plant. Perhaps it will need more skills than other industries, and maybe the adults lack these required skills and (are)unsuitable to work there.

Required skills vary from one industry to other industry(直接用 another就可以了), therefore, the minimum wage vary in different jobs. 例子举的挺细致的,我觉得唯一的缺点就是开头和结尾。用新东方那套太普通了,千篇一律。。。建议看看范文,5,6分范文都不是这样开头的。。。

Argument24[黄金十二宫]第六次作业

Perhaps it reached(has raeched) a balance between supply and demand of medicine equipments in the areas where those plants located in, therefore save large amount money on transportation fee.

Required skills vary from one industry to other(another) industry, therefore, the minimum wage(wages) vary in different jobs. Perhaps the plant must raise their labor’s income since they pay out more on their jobs than any other plants(plant).

Without further data involved(involving) in other cities, the president cannot reach that conclusion above.
