38"In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."

不知道那个电视的负面效应那个观点是否切题,请拍砖,谢谢!

According to the speaker, by watching television, people can learn as much as they can by reading books, thus reading books is not as important as before. Although I agree that numerous interesting knowledge can be acquired from television, there is far more for television to displace the primary role which books play in learning.

Admittedly, television has more visual impact on people than books. Television programs provide chances for people to enjoy the beautiful images of sceneries, or the emotional stories through teleplay. News television coverage make people possible to know about the important political or economical events at the unprecedented speed. Not only adults, children also benefit from television. Cartoons are the most popular program for children and their parents. It can not be denied that television helps people to acquire information more conveniently.

However, the information provided by television is not always positive. Many programs are fulfilled with violent, criminal or erotic scenarios which may induce juveniles, who are more easily influenced by external factors than adults, to imitate the behavior in these programs. Many parents strongly oppose to play these programs which are harmful for children or juveniles. Some parents also claim that without effective management, those programs would eventually cause juvenile delinquency. Though books may also contain some harmful or vicious contents, they could be first classified when published and then provided to readers. That is more reliable approach to prevent juveniles and even adults from vicious information than television programs, in which spectators are always passive receptors. Thus, reading books is the efficient and safe way to learn positive knowledge, other than vicious information in some television programs.

In addition, the contents of television programs are usually limited. When watching television, people always have few options to choose what they want to acquire, though many channels are provided. It is out of question that people can not easily learn knowledge in professional or serious academic fields, such as philosophy, anthropology, archeology or natural science, from television which always provide rudimental or fundamental knowledge appropriate for children, maybe. Conversely, people could access professional fields through books or other written records conveniently, Books are the most important way to share ideas or provide information, thus we can not imagine that an expert proposes his/her novel ideas in television program, other than put them in publication. In other words, television is only an entertainment tool in most time. In fact, people watch television in order to relax themselves and enjoy interesting things. Though there are some programs orienting education or training, their contents are always obsolete and can not satisfy people’s requirement. Actually, little truly useful knowledge is learned from television. When people have the requirement to accept new knowledge or information, they always choose to retort to books.

In conclusion, the speaker exaggerates the importance of television in people’s learning. People are passive receptors towards television, and can not be effective prevented from vicious information. In addition, television is only entertainment tool or supplement to books at most. Thus, the important role of books in learning could not be displaced by television.

In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.

It seems that men spend more time on watching television than reading books as television has changed beyond recognition from only several channels in the early days after it was invented to hundreds of cable channels as well as main broadcast networks from all over the world. To some extent, such pervasiveness has influenced the way people learn and acquire knowledge and information and the traditional learning approach by reading books are gradually being overlooked. However, watching television will not substitute for reading books now and forever when it comes to learning and studying.
There is no doubt that as television products evolves from analog to digital ones, unique pervasiveness presence to so many outlets such pervasiveness no longer prevails, people can learn in such a diverse and convenient way that as long as you turn on the TV, you are immediately instilled with the images, sounds and animation of dazzlingly various programs such as news, sports, entertainment, etc. The information is huge, yet only a few is knowledge, much less the analysis and process of information. So what people learn from watching television? A large amount of information which is either valuable, educational or meaningless, entertaining. Life without television is monotonous, but man lives a superficial and seemingly naïve life.
Turn off the TV and read great books. They open doors in your brain. The foundation of knowledge must be laid by reading. Children learn the fundamental knowledge of language and the logic of speech and thinking by reading primers. If watching television is able to provide same foundation of knowledge, then there is now need to send children to school. If the visual and audio effects of television play a crucial role in the early stage of learning, then no book is needed and one television set installed in the classroom is adequate for all the pupils to learn.
What is more important is that by reading books men gradually accumulate the capability of critical thinking and the in-depth analysis of problems occurring in the environment of our lives which, television alone, can hardly offer from my point of view. When we are reading good books, it is like a conversation with the finest men of past centuries. It is not just a conversation, it is a lasting course of cultivating the way we approach problems, of how we deal with it from every perspective, of how to analyze and critically evaluate the substance of the books. The advanced level of learning by reading is crucial to form the wholesome world view and value view of a person and from which he benefits. And it seems that watching television is superficial as to the depth and extent of learning.
Without television, life is boring with no information. Yet, people learn more profoundly by reading books.

我改的你的习作:)拍得不太好,希望见谅^_^

According to the speaker, by watching television, people can learn as much as they can by reading books, thus reading books is not as important as before我觉得如果不用这种方式更好一些,比如设问或者先说”in modern ages……“之类). Although I agree that numerous interesting knowledge can be acquired from television, there is far more for televisiontelevision is far from displacing )to displace the primary role which books play in learning.

Admittedly, television has more visual impact on people than books. Television programs provide chances for people to enjoy the beautiful images of sceneries, or the emotional stories through teleplay. News television coverage make people possible to know about the important political or economical events at the unprecedented speed. Not only adults, but children also benefit from television.

Though books may also contain some harmful or vicious contents, they could be first classified when published and then provided to readers(they could be probably classified before publishment).

(绝对的字眼一定要少用)In fact, people watch television in order to relax themselves and enjoy interesting things(+at most of the time). Though there are some programs orienting education or training, their contents are always obsolete and can not satisfy people’s requirement. Actually, little truly useful knowledge is learned from television. When people have the requirement to accept new knowledge or information, they always choose to retort to books. (这个论点不错)

In conclusion, the speaker exaggerates the importance of television in people’s learning. People are passive receptors towards television, and can not be effective prevented from vicious information. In addition, television is only an entertainment tool or supplement to books at most(这句可太绝对了,一定要改。你要说书是必要的,不能通过说电视是不必要的来反驳). Thus, the important role of books in learning could not be displaced by television.

觉得论点有一点点幼稚,如果能多拍拍别人的可能更好:)另外一定不要说太绝对的句子。
