In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.

观点：看电视不能取代读书而成为一种学习的途径
1：确实，通过看电视，我们可以获得很多快捷的知识。
2：单勘定是不能取代读书因为我们不光学习知识还要学习如何去思考，去推理，而这些是看电视所不能给予的。
3：读书是一个作者和读者互动的过程，在这个过程中读者可以获得不一样的享受，同时学会如何推理和想象。


In an era of rapid development of entertaining mediums, the invention of television has transformed the human society into a multimedia world. Admitted of the importance of television in the modern society, we can still not ignore the critical role played by reading books in people’s life. In my point of view, television is good way of entertainment while reading book is good way of education.

In the modern world, watching television has become a compulsory element of everyday life. For many people, turning on the TV after getting up in the morning has become a fixed routine of everyday’s life. Seemingly, people can get any news they need from television such as worldwide news, domestic news, sports news, entertainment news and so on. Additionally, weather forecast, traveling guidance, and even the ups and downs of the stock market are available on TV. Therefore, TV broadcaster has become a nation-widely famous person. We should be grateful to the inventor of television for his invention has made our life more colorful and convenient that ever before.

The debate over whether reading book or watching television will benefit us more has lasted for quite a long time. Although many people may find watching television a much more convenient way to get information than reading books, we can still not draw a conclusion that watching television can completely replace reading books as a way to learn. For, firstly, when we are talking about learning something, the crucial aspect of it is not only the content of the knowledge but also the skill and method of thinking and analysis. Only by reading book can we obtain the ability of deduction, analysis and even imagination. Suppose that we are reading a novel, what we really desire from the reading process is not the multiple knowledge provided by the novel but the connotations and the author’s ideas underlying the novel.

Compared to watching television, reading books is a positive way to get knowledge. In order to understand the author’s idea, we have to delve into the imaginary world created by the author, and this is absolutely an interactive process which needs our patient and comprehension ability. We will never obtain such kind of feeling by watching still at the television screen. Moreover, our capability of imagination and deduction can be cultivated and developed by this interactive action.

In conclusion, as I have mentioned at the very beginning, watching TV may serve as a good way of entertainment while reading books is good way of education. Thus, watching television can never replace reading books as way of learning.
