I partly agree with the speaker that because the history is relevant to our daily lives, it is valuable to be studied. However, it is not always the cases.

We study history because our human beings' experiences are limited both in time and space. Not until we study history of the world we are able to find out what happened before our birth. Though this, we could extend our experience and it is good for us to make decisions. In some cases, the knowledge we learn today are from history, too. It is resulted from the researches made by the scientists who lived many years or even centuries ago. Many great ancient thinkers' mind is still valuable today. What they thought is spurring people all the time from their birth. We cannot live a life like them, yet we are able to obtain their thinking through the study of history. Thus, studying history is important for today's people, and they can benefit from the learning process.

Of course, studying history is for the purpose of dealing things present. Though we cannot say that history would react in the modern life, yet a myriad of history event and works could give us hints to deal with present event. For example, many of the merchants compare the modern business to the ancient wars. Thus the famous book of war tactics in ancient China is popular with the modern business man, especially the manager of big companies. What's more, many people study how the ancient people treat people around them. They say it is valuable to spend time to do this study, because they can gain much from them and many of their principles are still suitable today. Thus, when we find there is relevant between history and present, many people wish to absorb some experience from history which is beneficial for there success.

However, study of history means different things to different people. Most of us wish to put ourselves into the study because history works or events can spur us to gain much profit today, meanwhile many other people study history just for their interests or just aim to accomplish their tasks. For example, what the archaeologists pursue is not something could help today's people obtain their goal in business; they just want to find out the truth, or prove their assumption about our ancestors. Maybe a piece of stone is a big present for them, yet for the other people it means nothing.

In sum, history is a mirror of today, though what happened before would not happen again exactly today, yet we have much to learn from history. It is certain that the events or works closely to our daily life are important, and most of us have paid much attention on it. What's more, we should not miss other tiny history events, because the relation between history and present is not obvious, and maybe a tiny thing in history could give us a light to deal with today's event. What we should do is to read something about history regularly, and also to think more about it.
