Is money spent on research always a good investment? The author claims so, no matter how controversial the results of it are. I concede the survey could help us acquire clear information about our world and provide more efficient methods of our life. However, whether the investment is worthy or not should be taken a case-by-case consideration.

To begin with, the research, especially in science and technology, could help us comprehensively understand our living world and make our contemporary life more effective. On the one hand, through the continuous efforts to investigate subjects in micro and macro realms, the material world is prone to be easily understood, satisfying the voracious appetite for human's knowledge. We come to recognize the precious composition of the material, the motional rules of planets in universe, the explanations of natural phenomenon. On the other hand, since investigators would be obsessed with hard but urgent to-be-solved problems and try to overcome them, meeting the anxious desires for human beings, more advanced technology machines, such as washing machine, television, computer, Internet and so forth, save housework time, supply instant communication and boost efficiency of our work. In social daily life, individuals could command latest national and international news, spend little time to washing and cooking, keep in touch with long-distance workmates or family members. Hence, the survey could address the conflicts between the limited device and our desires for lure and advanced equipment.

Moreover, whether research, which leads to controversial results, should be funded must be decided on a case-by-case analysis. Were those debates only concern the subjects of scientific researches themselves, e.g. reliability of the presumption, methodology, they could benefit the development of inquiries instead of doing harm to them. To support my viewpoint, one needs look no further than the question to Newtonian Mechanics by Galileo, a predominant Italian scientist in the world. Such hot controversy made a great stir among the researchers and attracted more individuals to focus on such problems, finally give rise to the last solution. However, were those disputes concern primary moral, a more detailed and thorough review needs to be conducted to weigh the feasibility of such research. For example, the ardent discussion about applying clone technology to replicate human beings relates to basic morality and ethics. No matter in West countries or in East nations, no matter in developing countries or developed ones, such technologies are strongly forbidden to maintain the human rights of equality and esteems.

In addition, since the continuous research in a certain realm usually requires a large amount of money, an evaluation about the possible aftermaths should be considered when deciding the essence of the investment. To some extent, where the fund is put could profoundly affect the study direction, by which, government could coordinate the relationship of different surveys in various realms and utilize the expenses in more valuable aspects. Emphasizing on nuclear weapon excessively, as an instance, may cause military competition in countries, and threaten the safety of individuals, the stability of entire world. Therefore, money spent on such case could hardly exert its best function to benefit people; instead of it we should reasonably apply it to more crucial and paramount aspects, such as medical-care, education, and so on.

To sum up, decision about the funding spent on survey or not should be taken several realms into account, such as where the debate of the results rises, whether the investment is worthwhile, and how such research would touch our daily life.
