I agree that some customs has really changed with the development of technologies, but all of them, while I do not concede that our ethics have become different as they were in the past.(意思明白,这句话的表达方式有问题吧改为but for all of them, I do not concede that our ethics have become different from what they were in the past)
To begin with, it is true that because of technologies, our life has improved a lot, great changes have taken place in our society and these changes affect some of our customs. For instance, people would send cards to their friends and relatives on Christmas, but now most people choose to use E-mails and messages sent by mobiles, which is more convenient and environment-friendly. Also, when traveling by plane was not so accessible, people would rather spend their holidays playing in their city or some places which are close to them while now traveling by plane is no longer difficult and is affordable to many people, they choose to travel farther and even go abroad to spend their holidays. What's more, sometimes we have to admit that technologies have make(made) our communication with family numbers less than before. In the past, when TV was not so popular, family members would talk together after dinner while many of us prefer watching TV and playing computers. Some customs have varied even when we are not quite aware f them.
However, a lot of customs which have (插入been) derived from traditions long-long ago are still the same and will not change in a short term because they have been rooted in our culture. Parents still put their presents to children under the Christmas trees or in the stockings on Christmas Eve. Americans still celebrate Thanksgiving and eat turkeys on that day. And Chinese eat steamed rice dumpling on DuanWu festival in honor of Qu Yuan, a great poet who suicided in Yangtze River in ancient times, as our ancestors did in the past. Also, Japanese have kept their tradition of going to temples on the early morning on January 1st for hundreds of yeas. These customs are indispensable parts of our culture and they play an important role in our life. People even become more aware of their importance and try to protect them from being lost. For example, Chinese government have(has) decided to make 5 more traditional Chinese festivals as holidays this year. These customs are treasures in our culture and should never be changed.
Though some customs have varied due to the development of technologies, people's ethics are keeping the same. Science and technologies try to make our life more convenient and to satisfy us in lots of material areas but ethics have rooted in our minds and will not change so easily. Parents' deep love for children today is no difference from that was in the past. The emphasis on those good qualities such as honesty, hard-working, fairness, self-discipline and faiths in liberty, democracy as well as love for family members, friends and even strangers has not changed at all.
Today, we can often hear that employers and girls still view honesty and diligence as most important criteria when selecting their employees and boy friends, which is same as it was in the past. Technologies have not changed people's ethics and on the contrary, ethics have made some limitation on the development of technologies in some aspects such as the cloning of human and excessive research on nuclear weapons.
In conclusion, some of our customs have changed due to the development of technologies while others have not. Our ethics keep the same as they were in the past though technologies have developed so quickly.
评价:
语言流畅,论述有力。
个人认为倒数第二段的举例:父母对孩子的爱和人们择业和择友标准不是算是custom和tradition,最后的关于科技发展不受道德的限制的而带来的危害可以进一步发挥一下。
