刚收到一个UMASS的ME的offer.
1.$800 per semester是什么意思啊？是不是从$18000里面扣除的？钱是不是很少啊？
2.这个学校我不太想去，但是2月16老师要答复，能够推迟吗？

Dear Mr. ***,

It is my pleasure to offer you a one-year Graduate Research Assistantship (RA) in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, beginning in August 2007, with a stipend of $18,000. In addition, your tuition and curriculum fee will be waived and medical coverage will be provided, which corresponds to an additional $17,000 as benefits of this appointment. The required graduate student fees of approximately $800 per semester and the graduate employee organization fee of approximately 2% of gross pay can be automatically deducted from your bi-weekly stipend check. The source of funds for this assistantship is a research grant to Professor ***, who is also your Ph.D. advisor.

In exchange for this assistantship, you will be expected to work full time on your research assignment, in addition to taking classes that are part of your academic degree study requirements. This award and its continuation are contingent at all times upon the availability of funds and satisfactory performance by you in both your research and course work.

You may accept or reject this offer by signing below and returning this form to me no later than February 16, 2007. If we don't hear from you by then, the offer will be withdrawn.
