1。丑闻有它的好处，它能让人们意识到一些很严肃的问题，无论是在政界还是学术界。
2。丑闻可能会让大家过份关注一些很无聊的东西啦，比如八卦拉什么的，对社会一点好处都没有~
3。最后呢，媒体的作用也不能忽视。

Whether scandals can be useful to our society or not ?In our social life ,what is scandal ?Scandal is certain disgusting thing that is hard to tell others .Nowadays ,scandals can be seen at any time and anywhere due to the development of media .As the author maintains ,scandals can be useful and they make our attention on some problems ,which speakers and reformers can not .I fundamentally agree with the author but also keep my reservation as the following reasons .

I concede that scandals in whatever field ,such as politics ,academia and other areas ,play an important role for the society .Admittedly ,in retrospect ,scandals always attracted and gave us warns by increasing the level of scrutiny and accountability to which our public officials and moral duty was hold .For example ,in the realm of academics ,honest and reality , the academic virtue ,are key words to every scholar .Plagiarism is the worst and most disgusting thing in their eyes .And scandals of the Korean scientist--Woo Suk Hwang--for making the fate statistics and research results-something about several kinds of animal clone to cheat the whole world ,forced him out of this field and may never come back again .Another instant for that is long ago but telling ,Watergate in 70's of last century also angered people for the president of the USA and Nixon have only one way to go --to resign but with little respect .All of those facts tell us scandals have the lasting significant and beneficial function to our society .

However ,we should also recognize that scandals sometimes distracted people from the more important problems and pressing information to some useless things to satisfy people's curiosity .For example ,in the entertainment circle ,a lot scandals about stars' private thing are exposed in front of thousands and millions eyes .Someone may argue that they must pay for that because of the huge amount of money they earned .But let us come to the end of these problems we gain nothing for the urgent social problems ,such as public resources attribution and utility ,public safety and social welfare that are more useful than the scandals like a star have a private son or something else .Just like that ,time will tell whether the sex scandals of Bill Clinton  benefit the nation ,society or legal system .

Finally ,we should not avoid to discuss the function of media who tell us news and who reveal the scandals .Media is under the force of interests like other money-making organizations .Thus its goal in order to earn as many as possible readers and audiences may drive it to the exaggeration of report which may hurt the person involved and misguide public .Whether the scandals can make any sense also should be concerned by ourselves .

In sum ,we can safely come to the conclusion that the function of scandals need to put on a balanced  position –the attitude to it is neither to be too keen nor to ignorant .Public should also have the capability to differentiate what is true and what has untrue elements .
