总的说来不错。
74The most effective way to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people is through the use of images, not language.
In today's global tendency, efficient communication among people becomes more and more significant. When regarding to the most effective way to communicate an idea to large groups of people, the speaker contends that it is the use of images rather than language that contributes to effective communication. In my point of view, the use of images and the use of language in the process of communication are compatible as opposed to exclusive from each other. [开头提出观点很明确。]
To begin with, the use of images has some distinctive qualities including vivid and actual effect when compared with the use of language in the process of communication to large groups of people. In fact, with the vivid photo of one figure we can immediately acknowledge the general characteristics of appearance. While it would make us possible possess a vague impression by utilizing language. We can also vividly appreciate the moment appearance of the athlete when he or she acquires the champion, while the use of language can hardly convey the appearance of the athlete in the just time vividly. Therefore, the use of images has an outstanding nature of vivid in the process of communication to groups of people. [vivid是个很好的论点,不过觉得还可以再多做些文章:譬如,对一个画面、或者细节做一个细致一点的描写,以突出vivid。]
However, the use of images may be sometimes rough and tumble in the process of communication. In my observance, it is devoid of language which can be used to explain the concrete meaning of the images that leads to the confusion among the general public. A good case in point is a famous art-Mona Lisa. Even today critics are contend with each other about the meaning of the art, some believe that the art convey a feeling of wonderful, others argue that the work convey a feeling of sadness. But the true feeling is still open to doubt and cannot be determined by critics of nowadays. So, the use of images can, more or less, be confusion when it is used lonely to convey something to the general people.
Yet, the use of language can convey something in an accurate way to the populace, especially in the inquiry of science. In fact, language can so accurately convey the meaning to groups of people that it has been preserved as the primary way of communication. When a scientist reported his or her findings to the general public he or she must absorb many words which can assist him or her in conveying the content of his research. For research which is outstanding for the accurate and repetitive nature, the researcher must convey the content accurately in detail or his or her findings would be accepted or mistaken by other researchers. Therefore, to be accurately communicator we must resort to language.
In today' technological society, we should use a joint effort to communicate an idea to large groups of people so that we can convey the idea efficiently and effectively. Consider, for example, when an engineer imparts his inventions to people in a great number, he will resort to use a way of images and language. With the images he can easily show his new invention to people and give them a vivid impression, with the use of language, he can easily express his content about the invention accurately. It is the co-operative effort that contributes to the effective communication.
In sum, to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people is though the joint efforts of images and language rather than either of them. Only by doing so can we convey an idea efficiently and effectively. [结尾比较单薄。] |
