写的确实很多,厉害!

------题目------
The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.
'Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months.'
------正文------
The author of this editorial concludes that the sales of Whirlwind video g(a)mes is about to be reversed and possible to increase dramatically in the following few months after a decline over the past two years. To support his contention the author mentions a survey and an advertising campaign done by the Whirlwind company. However, after carefully inspecting, I find that there are several flaws in this editorial.
Firstly, the author mentions that a recent survey that they asked players about the features of game which is most important in this article. However, he doesn't mention how many players attended in this survey and what percentage of those players reponsed the survey. (Nevertheless), the author is too impatient to get a conclusion that players prefer games which provide vivid graphics. In my opinion, the author has made a mistake about statistical reliability.(a mistake with statistically unreliable evidence是不是好些) Now there is no evidence to show his idea. Even if he give(s) us these numerical data including the numbers of player parcitipating (participating)the survey and the percentage of respondents, can those players represent the whole video-game players? In this rate, the author provides no assurance which can show that the survey is reliable.
第一段讲一个不合理的survey, 凭什么证明the trend is about to reversed
我觉得批驳以下内容的时候,可以逻辑更鲜明些。因为是a feature they prefer to, 我觉得应该提一下这种feature可能根本不适合玩家的胃口。或者说很少有人买得起”up to date computers”, 因而游戏也卖不出去了
“According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers.”
‘Nevertheless’之后,写的好像不太清晰。
Secondly, the author assume(s) that people whose age is between 10 to 25 are most likely to play the video game. Yet he hasn't provided any evidence to support it. It is probably to cause people who read this editorial to regard this conclusion as the author's subjective suppose(名词?). It is entirely possible that the children whose age are between 7 to 9 year-old are also loving playing the video games. Even if the author can offer us the origin of assumption such as the people who have done the research, can he guarantee that the work of th researcher(that the work) is reliable? Therefore, according to the skepticism above, the author fails to convince us for this assumption.
Thirdly, we should pay attention to the reason that cause the sales two-year decline. Obviously, the author hasn't mentioned any word about it. Then in fact, the author claims that an extensive advertising campaign with which several so-called player most (favorable) games were introduced to those so-called people who is most likely to play the video games. I really do not comprehend that why the advertising campaign can reverse the sales owing to no evidence provide by the author to prove that. The cause of the sales decline may be varied such as unreasonable price or their wrong strategies on sales. However, I concede that lack of advertisement could be a reason for it. Indeed, he doesn't put any strong assurance to show the vital reason of the decline is lack of advertisement. Hence, the assumption that the sales will be reverse through the extensive advertising campaign cannot be acknowledged by us.
这一段比较清楚,指出了”author fails to figure out the reason why the sales has declined over the past two years”
Finally, the author make his own suppose again at the end of article. It is ridiculous to conclude that the sales will increase dramatically in the next few months. How can(does) he calculus calculus n.微积分学, 结石(account for) the so-called next few months? Likewise, he still lack of evidence to persuade us. Perhaps the sales of video game is seasonal and Whirlwind may wait for a longer time such as one year to see the reverse. Thereby, it is possibly the author 's own idealistical expectation.
In sum, the editorail is not only logically unsound but also relies on some untrustful assumptions. To strengthen his arguement the author should provide us more detail inforamtion. For example, he can offer us the detailed statistical data about the survey, evidence about why the players in 10-25 of age are zealous on video games , also interested in Whirlwind's games and can afford it. If the author can provide the reason of its two-year decline, we are also sppreciate for that.
