ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."WORDS: 674          NO TIMING          DATE: 2007-2-1

提纲:总观点-赞成。真正有效的教育应当按照各人兴趣和需求设计,但是应当注意避免某些问题,而这些问题是可以有效解决的。
1有兴趣和需求,学生会积极参与教学。
2 如果抹煞学生的兴趣,会带来的危害。(对比传统教育方式)
3 这种教育方式可能存在的问题,但是是可以解决的:学生一开始可能不知道自己的兴趣所在,这时他们需要的是引导和全面的介绍,教育正是应当适应这种需要。资源有限问题和可能的解决方案。

Should education be redesigned to cater the various concern, purpose or interest of each student in order to fulfill the purpose of education most effectively? Answers might vary from individuals. From my standpoint, the truly effective education should be the one designed with consideration of individual interest and need of each student while some side effects should be carefully avoided.

To begin with, students could truly effectively engage in the education activities with an aim, purpose or interest to them. By reasoning from the past to future, we have good ground to conclude that interest or needs represent the motive force to push human beings into exploring the unknown world. To be concrete, children's specific capabilities, concern, interest, preference and desires constitute the dynamic factors involved in education thus all minds hardly work the same way even if they have the same text books, the same teachers and in the same classrooms. For instance, a boy is unlikely to automatically request for the dull disciplines, as most his peers might consider them to be, such as mathematics, computer program theories unless he has generated specific appeal to these materials. Interest and needs impart students the courage to face with the difficulties, uncertainties, and even confusion in the field they have chosen. For that matter, whether a student could learn the courses well does not account on the quality of teaching method but whether the student is willing or unwilling to apply himself/herself to the material in hand.  As the old American saying goes, 'it makes no difference what you teach a boy so long as he dose not like it.' And if the students are truly interested in the courses or eagerly need the technology, the teachers could save the effort to develop various videos, pictures and cartoons to make the materials appealing to students; the students will actively engage in the education rather than passively receive enlisted information.

On the other hand, the detrimental effects of ignoring students' interest and needs in conservative educative development are obvious as well, which diminishes the efficiency of teaching dramatically. For one thing, children refuse to pay attention to the courses which they are not interested in, no matter how important the courses might be. Therefore, forces could only turn out to be counterproductive. For instance, punishment such as spanking, does not serve as an effective way of education or arousing the awareness of importance of courses for it provokes no interest but a sense of obligation. Then the children might be physically presented in the classroom but absent-mindedly. For another, students with potential and capabilities hardly develop their gifts at the right moment if their interest and needs cannot be satisfied. For supporting cases, famous talented including Einstein and Newton reflected in their later years that schooling failed to satisfy their desires is specific fields. While they had to waste their time handling useless tasks, the real education was carried out in libraries by themselves. Therefore, why are we still forcing children to struggle with the endless exams and discussions they do not concern? Why do we impart the skills or disciplines to them which they might not use in their future lives? The ineffectiveness of teaching and studying lies in the fact that students are merely physically presented in the classes and are forced to learn.

Admittedly, there still exist some unsolved problems, which perhaps will not be problems in the near future, before interest-based and need-based education becomes truly effective. First, some educators might point out the educational resources are limited currently and it is almost impossible to satisfy the various interest and needs of millions of students. Nonetheless, modern technology including customer-centered software and long-distance education programs based on Internet might be adopted in schools to supplement the traditional courses. Moreover, another problem is that most students are uncertain about their interests or needs. On this occasion, the basic needs of these students should be searching for their interest and education could provide brief instruction of a wide range of knowledge, which is a symbol of the effectiveness of such education system.

In sum, education will not be truly effective without consideration of interest and needs of the students. With the assistance of modern technology, it is possible to invite each student to truly take active part in the classroom and claims what they would like to learn.

总评,感觉语言上有点晦涩,个别句子不通顺,用词也不是很准确,上下文连接和句子与句子之间的连接不太好。

好象是楼主第一次的作文,发晚了,不好意思。也可能是我搞错了。

In the roaring twenty-first century, the nation chasing liberty calls for education specially designed to meet the individual needs and interest of each student, holding that it is the truly effective method to fulfill purpose of education. To my standpoint, the really effective education should be designed with consideration of individual needs and interests of each student while careful rules should be made to avoid some possible side effects.

To begin with, personally designed education answers the calls for creativity and diversity from current society. In the times when Web 2.0 is generating a multicultural, multi-valued society, the ultimate purpose of education should not be reshaping all students to fit the same die but making them different -- to uncovering their own personality, potential and destiny. In the conversional school where students receive the same curriculums regardless whether the students could make any use of them in their future career or whether they are interested in them, graduates find them facing with a dilemma that they have neither equipped with necessary skills for their career or future lives nor obtained adequate knowledge to research into the amazing fields of knowledge they would spend the rest of their lives in.这样写有漏洞吧,教育是终身的吧,knowledge they would spend the rest of their lives in会被攻击吧 By contrast, redesigning the courses and contents of the lectures to fit various desires of the students will save considerable time and effort to be ms不用被动语态adapt into the world outside school for the students whoare aware of all the possibilities they will faced and are ms不要arehighhighly skilled in handling the tasks.

Additionally, students with diverse capacities, qualities and potentials could hardly take advantage of their gifts unless the education is properly designed according to their own conditions. For instance, some students with special gifts such as Einstein, Newton, and so on, reflected in their later lives that formal education failed to impart them the proper knowledge which they really needed or they were interested in. 这是主句吗?前面的是什么? Therefore, they had to waste their time in school while their real education was carried out in library by themselves. Meanwhile, some students might become frustrated after they find that they cannot catch up with the rest of the class in the courses where they need special help. With wide range of abilities and interests of students, education could by no means fulfill the efficiency unless the courses are specifically arranged for individuals.

Admittedly, numerous difficulties and possible side effects must be prevented before specially designed education becomes truly effective. The threshold premise is that each student should be well aware of their own needs and interest. As common sense informs us, the majority of children are uncertain about neither their abilities nor future careers at the beginning of their formal education. And for that matter, the education could not be designed according to students' individual desires and interests. One possible solution might lie in the early education which might be compulsory to all students as instruction to a wide range of fields. And as some educators might point out, some basic skills might be necessary but dull enough to prevent students from volunteering taking these courses. Certain proportion of compulsory courses could impart the skills and knowledge to the students.

In sum, education could by no means太绝对了吧 be effective without consideration of individual needs and interest of the students while some extent of compulsory courses would be necessary as supplement to provide students for basic skills and knowledge. In the days when Internet could reach almost every home and computer software is individual-centered designed, such kind of education might not be far from us.这句话好像和本文没什么关系

lz在追求长句的时候有的句子语法上好像有的问题,而且有点难读。呵呵。
而且感觉思路上不是很全面,建议参考论坛的同主题:)
