TOPIC: ARGUMENT56 - Collectors prize the ancient life-size clay statues of human figures made on Kali Island but have long wondered how the Kalinese artists were able to depict bodies with such realistic precision. Since archeologists have recently discovered molds of human heads and hands on Kali, we can now conclude that the ancient Kalinese artists used molds of actual bodies, not sculpting tools and techniques, to create these statues. This discovery explains why Kalinese miniature statues were abstract and entirely different in style: molds could only be used for life-size sculptures. It also explains why few ancient Kalinese sculpting tools have been found. In light of this development, collectors should expect the life-size sculptures to decrease in value and the miniatures to increase in value.

The conclusion that life-size sculptures will decrease in value and the miniatures to increase in value seems plausible because, according the arguer, the former is created by molds and the later is sculptured. However, the causal relation is just like a myth due to illogical reasoning and absent of substantiated information.

What comes first is that there is no evidence to prove that the life-size clay statues are created by molds. Although there are molds of human heads and hands on Kali Island, the arguer fails to inform us whether the molds and the life-size sculpture are the same era. It is entirely possible that the sculpture is ahead of molds, and then it is unwarranted that the statues were created by molds. Even if the molds and sculpture were contemporary, it is unconvincing whether the molds were only used to produce clay rather than other usages such as toys of children. Provided that the molds were used to sculpture, to prove the life-size are all molds-product, the arguer should provide the other sect molds besides the hands and heads; or we may draw the conclusion that the statues were sculpted aside from hands and heads. If so, then it is problematic that the life-size are created by molds.

Furthermore, no direct information to lend credible support to represent that the miniatures were sculpted by hands. It is highly possible that the molds of the miniature are still not found. Or the molds have been destroyed. The abstract and entirely different in style of miniatures can not explain that they were sculptured by hands. Maybe the life-size clays were created at early years; while the miniatures were born later many years later. Therefore, it is no wonder that miniatures are more abstract. Or the life-size and miniatures were just different popular styles of that time on Kali Island. Hence different style of miniature is not enough to substantiate that the miniature are created by hand.

Given no sculpture tools have been found, how the arguer draws different conclusions about the life-size clays and miniatures. Absent of sculpture tools, we may get the conclusion that the life-size clay were molds-product; while we have no reason to explain that miniatures are created by sculpture tools. Maybe the arguer should provide evidence to prove certain tools could be used to sculpt miniatures; while they could not be used to life-size clays. Then we will accept the conclusion. Unfortunately, the arguer fails to do so.

Even if we concede that life-size clay statues were molds-product and the miniature were sculpted, it does not follow that their correlate value will increase or decrease. Although it is the criteria of value for whether the clay was produced by hand, it is not the only law. There are complicate factors to decide the value of the clay such as the quantity, the era, and the artistry styles or skills. Maybe there are only one or two life-size clay statues but there are lots of miniatures. According market rules, the value of life-size clay statues may be more profitable. Still more, if the life-size statues were created thousand years earlier than miniatures, undoubtedly, the former may be more valuable than the latter.

In all, the conclusion of this argument does not stand on the ground since the evidence provided is far from credible. More information about the era, the other molds of humans, and the tools for the miniature should be collected along with a more logical reasoning to make the allegation persuasive.

The conclusion that life-size sculptures will decrease in value and the miniatures to increase in value seems plausible because, according the arguer, the former is created by molds and the later is sculptured. However, the causal relation is just like a myth due to illogical reasoning and absent of substantiated information.[觉得最好在第一段概括地指出作者结论的推理逻辑错误,使得第一段更有力些]

What comes first is that there is no evidence to prove that the life-size clay statues are created by molds. Although there are molds of human heads and hands on Kali Island, the arguer fails to inform us whether the molds and the life-size sculpture are[in] the same era. It is entirely[删去entirely] possible that the sculpture is ahead of molds, and then it is unwarranted that the statues were created by molds. Even if the molds and sculpture were contemporary, it is unconvincing whether the molds were only used to produce clay[sculpture,而不是粘土] rather than other usages such as toys of children. Provided that the molds were used to sculpture, to prove the life-size are all molds-product, the arguer should provide the other sect molds besides the hands and heads; or we may draw the conclusion that the statues were sculpted aside from hands and heads. If so[逻辑不清,so代表什么?], then it is problematic that the life-size are created by molds.

Furthermore, no direct information to lend credible support to represent that the miniatures were sculpted by hands. It is highly possible that the molds of the miniature are still not found. Or the molds have been destroyed. The abstract and entirely different in style of miniatures can not explain that they were sculptured by hands. Or the life-size and miniatures were just different popular styles of that time on Kali Island. Hence different style of miniature is not enough to substantiate that the miniature are created by hand.

Given no sculpture tools have been found, how the arguer draws different conclusions about the life-size clays[statues] and miniatures.[这句意思不太明确,我理解了,但觉得表达上有问题] Absent of sculpture tools, we may get the conclusion that the life-size clay were molds-product; while we have no reason to explain that miniatures are created by sculpture tools. Maybe the arguer should provide evidence to prove certain tools could be used to sculpt miniatures; while they could not be used to life-size clays. Then we will accept the conclusion.
