这是构思的时候用的，但是文章写出来不太一样，而且很多政治经济的素材不是很充足就没有写。

Some people hold the idea that tradition and modernization are incompatible so that one must choose between them. Maybe others will argue that tradition and modernization are compatible therefore we could keep all our traditions while developing fast on our road to the modernization. I think both of their opinions are reasonable under a certain conditions and in specific times. In the realm of culture and arts, I can’t agree the former opinion any more, however, as to the problems related to politics and economics, I have to admit in most cases modernization is against the tradition and tradition always becomes an out-of-date power to prevent the society from further development.

The traditional Chinese Spring Festival which is held the last day of the year according to the old Chinese agricultural calendar has been lasted for thousands of years as a get-together time for all of the family members both to celebrate the coming of New Year and to reward the diligent works during the past year. Although people are much busier in working than before, they catch the trains or long distance buses back home to keep the customs of having dumplings with their parents and relatives on the Spring Festival Eve. The celebration is not as complex as that in the old times, but the traditional festival is still part of our modern life and makes our life colorful and full of joy. Therefore, tradition culture is a composition of modern culture and it plays a very important part in forming the features of the people in a region. That is also the reason why we Chinese try our best to maintain the old style of the ancient architectures and prevent all kinds of local operas from dying out. Not only the traditional culture is helpful to nowadays life but also the traditional elements are used by more and more film makers and performance directors. Take Peking Opera and Kung Fu as an example, they have become a symbol of China and in the process of making use of those traditional resources, we have greatly changed them to satisfy the requirements of modern audiences all over the world and they could bring us some benefits in promoting Chinese modern arts. The same situation appears in lots of countries, especially in the countries with long histories, so we could conclude that the modernization absorbs the advantages of the tradition and the tradition accelerates the modernization.

Talking about the politics and economics, the opinion that the tradition and modernization are incompatible usually makes sense and one have to make choice between them. In some countries, especially in the countryside, women are not allowed to receive educations and only men could study and work outside. Shouldn’t the women have the equal rights of education and getting the same opportunity to find a job? Shouldn’t that kind of tradition be got rid of? The modern laws and rules help us a lot to restrict the disadvantages of tradition, so the citizens have to abide by those laws and rules and maintain them at the same time.

In a word, the opinion that the tradition and modernization are incompatible is not absolutely. One must choose to make them compatible or choose between them.
