The speaker asserts that there is no purely objective observation because it is always guided by subjective expectations of observer. This statement is partly true. Although observation is <<guided这个词感觉主观性很强,建议换一下>> by observer's expectations, it can still be objective if it can live through the examination of time.
The speaker is on the correct psychological side of the view, because people often observe the world with their own expectations and desires. Observers always try to find evidence supporting their theories and beliefs, while overlooking the phenomenon against them, no matter how obviously such phenomenon is. Psychologist says this is a form of subconscious protection almost every living creature in the world has. <<<上面这句有点突兀可以改一下 ,which is common to。。。as a form of。。。〉〉〉 A stock trader would always find evidence that a certain stock price will soar, once he has bought that very stock; a politician would always find reports and surveys supporting his term; a scientist would always obtain data explaining his theory. The adverse evidence would always be neglected because human minds are constantly thinking subjectively and seeking anything in favor of their opinions. As the nature principle, any observation is guided by subjective expectation of observer.
However, the foci would be too narrow if we over-emphasize on the subjective nature of human minds, while ignoring the ability of <<<retrospection???是不是reflection>>> of the brain. As the only intelligent animal on Earth, human beings have the outstanding ability of cogitation and retrospection. That is to say, human minds are characterized by self-adjustment and self-learning, especially the truly profound thinkers in the world. Through the unremitting process of continually challenge his mind and effort to transcend himself, a truly profound thinker could realize the flaws of his theory or belief, and then complement<<<可以用refine或者perfect>>> it by adjustment. Moreover, even if one fails to realize certain flaws of his theory, other wise men could help<< to do so删>>, especially when they have distinct theories or beliefs. When Copernicus published his sun center theory, conflicting with the authorities who believed that Earth is the center of the universe, he incurred sever criticism and punishment. Yet as time passed by, people gradually found merit of his theory and accepted it. A famous scientist said:" Any gospel could live through the examination of time." Therefore, even if human recognition of a phenomenon is initially subjective and incorrect, it would gradually be adjusted and corrected by the truly <<<profound形容人可能不太好可以换成insightful perspicacious penetrating 之类的>>>thinkers. In that case, we could still regard such observation as objective after it is putatively accepted.
We cannot make sure any present knowledge is gospel, due to the certain limitations of human technology and intelligence. The data obtained could never be complete, and the problems never be settled. Solving one problem is almost always accompanied by the emerging of another <<one删>>. Einstein said:" Human recognition of the world is like an expanding circle. The larger it is, the more unknown it would touch at the edge." Therefore in front of the perplexing nature, we should keep humility, knowing that exploration and understanding of the world would never complete, and we should never be complacent.
In the final analysis, the speaker's assertion is partly true. Any observation is guided by subjective expectation and desire of observer. However, if an observation could live through the continual argument and challenge, we should regard it as pure objective, because it truly explains the nature.
