------题目------
Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
------正文------
Scandals, the smears of the society, may play a positive role in our life. I agree that scandals focus our attention on problems in ways that cannot be done by others.

First of all, scandals may lead us to focus more attention on some issues and attain a comprehensive understanding of them. Nowadays people are fully engaged in their busy work. They hardly pay a lot of attention on a particular event or issue. Nevertheless scandals may quickly attract them and make them care about the issues concerning the scandals. For example, in the realm of politics, a political scandal may draw the whole nation's attention and every citizen may focus on the scandal any moment. Nixon covered up his active role in the Watergate shocked the whole country. People were suspicious about his honest even his ethics standards. Those who had supported him before might convert their faith in him, which was caused by the scandal. In other words, scandals may not only focus people's attention on problems but also change their ideas and judgments on the problems. Thus, scandals can cause people to focus on and comprehend a problem thoroughly.

Furthermore, scandals may serve as alarms and prevent people from committing the same mistakes. After scandals draw people's attention, people may consider the source of the scandals. In this way, scandals play the function that alert people the harm of scandals themselves and not to make the same errors. For example, science is objective and reflects the truth of the world. If any scientist does some plagiarisms in his research, he may be forbidden to do researches any more. And he will not have any position in the science realm. His behavior may admonish other scientists not to take the risk to do plagiarisms. Moreover, in the realm of economy, due to fake accounts, Enron, a powerful enterprise, went bankrupt in the end. The scandal of Enron provides a crucial lecture for other companies and warns them to be honest in their business work. Therefore, scandals also may admonish and prevent people from making the same mistakes.

Admittedly, in some cases too much attention on a scandal may be time-consuming and not worthwhile.. It is possible that in order to investigate a scandal the government may spend a lot time and money, which is not necessary. For example, the process of examining the sexual scandal of Clinton persists a long time. And it costs the government many funds to investigate the scandal. The money of government comes from the taxes of the whole citizens. In fact, the taxes should applied in the national construction and people's welfares. It is unfair to use the money to examine a politician's scandal and it may arouse the whole nation's complaints. Hence, over attention on a scandal cannot be useful, instead it is worthless to do so.

To sum up, scandals can not only focus people's attention on some particular problems but also prevent them from committing the same errors. However, too much attention on a scandal cannot be useful at all.

------题目------
Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
------正文------
Scandals, the smears of the society(社会的污点?这好像是贬义阿,), may play a positive role in our life. I agree that scandals focus our attention on problems in ways that cannot be done by others.

First of all, scandals may lead us to focus more attention on some issues and attain a comprehensive understanding of them(指代不清,说明白点). Nowadays people are fully engaged in their busy work. They hardly pay a lot of (any) attention on a particular event or issue. Nevertheless scandals may quickly attract them and make them care about the issues concerning the scandals. For example, in the realm of politics, a political scandal may draw the whole nation's attention and every citizen may focus on the scandal any moment(罗嗦了,意思重复). (That) Nixon covered up his active role in the Watergate shocked the whole country. People were suspicious about his honest(honesty) even his ethics standards. Those who had supported him before might convert their faith in(cover in 是什么意思?) him, which was caused by the scandal. In other words, scandals may not only focus people's attention on problems but also change their ideas and judgments on the problems. Thus, scandals can cause people to focus on and comprehend a problem thoroughly.(这一段似乎在后面强调的是丑闻的影响,偏了,可以删不少,你可以论述一下为什么丑闻有吸引力)

If any scientist does some plagiarisms in his research, he may be forbidden to do researches any more(太绝对了). And he will not have any position in the science realm(太绝对了).

Admittedly,(用However好些 ) in some cases too much attention on a scandal may be time-consuming and not worthwhile.. It is possible that in order to investigate a scandal the government may spend a lot time and money, which is not necessary. For example, the process of examining the sexual scandal of Clinton persists a long time. And it costs the government many funds to investigate the scandal.(呵呵,少举一些美国的丑闻,老师说的) The money of government comes from the taxes of the whole citizens.

However, too much attention on a scandal cannot be useful at all(绝对化了).

Scandals, the smears of the society (一开头就下结论不好吧?), may play a positive role in our life. I agree that scandals focus our attention on problems in ways that cannot be done by others.
(开头貌似太短了)
First of all, scandals may lead us to focus more attention on some issues and attain a (more)comprehensive understanding of them. Nowadays people are fully engaged in their busy work. They hardly pay a lot of attention on a particular event or issue. Nevertheless scandals may quickly attract them and make them care about the issues concerning the scandals. For example, in the realm of politics, a political scandal may draw the whole nation's attention and every citizen may focus on the scandal any moment (any moment 不太好吧).

After scandals draw(have drawn) people's attention, people may consider the source of the scandals.

And it costs the government many funds (a lot of fund?) to investigate the scandal. The money of government comes from the taxes of the whole citizens. In fact, the taxes should (be) applied in the national construction and people's welfares. It is unfair to use the money to examine a politician's scandal and it may arouse the whole nation's complaints. Hence, over (undue) attention on a scandal cannot be useful, instead it is worthless to do so.

To sum up, scandals can not only focus people's attention on some particular problems but also prevent them from committing the same errors. However, too much attention on a scandal cannot be useful at all.
