提纲——

B1. 对小孩子的教育重点放在intellect上面
B2. 对拥有high intellect的人给予极高的respect和rewards
B3.事实上不重视的恰恰是the power to feel and to will
1)自我精神状态的调整能力差suicide; 2)与人情感交往沟通能力indifference

The power to think with logic reasoning and the power to feel with emotional senses are incorporated in human beings and serve them to be distinguished from animals. Either shall be give sufficient attention in order to make people more adaptable to the society as its component. However, the majority of contemporary people seems to overemphasize the significance of the former while demonstrate little interest of the latter, just reverse to what the statement claims.

Firstly, the education of the next generation focusing mainly on the improvement of their intellectual level reflects such unbalance. As far as children or teenagers are concerned, no matter where the school located, when it comes to the arrangement of courses, they usually have one thing in common: offer required courses such as math, physics, biology, native language, history etc., characterized by requirement of logical reasoning or comprehension, while in the contrast, seldom provide courses intending to teach students how to communicate with others and how to behave appropriately in different occasion. In fact, this distinction of courses setting just reflects the preference of our society to intellective ability, considering schools are generally regarded as the major source of knowledge imparted to students. Even for college students, they could also feel a wide gap between cognitive skills rather than emotional skills. During their college life, what professors and their parents emphasize most is always their academic performance, the more better, the more successful they will be considered. Later, after graduation, they shall face the challenge of hunting for a job, and their potential employers usually measure them with a test for intellect, so as to pick up the most outstanding peers. To sum up, educational institutes, parents, and even employers to some extent judge the value of a person by their intellectual capacity.

In addition, the society also show great respect and usually grant high-profit awards to those with high intellects, often referred as the elites, such as prominent politicians, outstanding scientists, splendid business executives. People always admire them as role models and desire to be the same successful as them. Hence it is not surprising to hear parents encouraging their little children to become the second "Clinton", "Einstein", or "Bill Gates", or children themselves strongly desire to be a figure with unprecedented wisdom. These giants, although engaged in various field, are welcome and popular without any exception -- their lectures are always crowded with people, their autobiography are always best-selling, their names are always remembered by thousands of people. In a word, people demonstrate great respect to them. Besides, society also confer high-profit awards to them as material rewards. In some sense prizes are actually designed specially for those high-intellect people, since not everyone has the ability to make important discoveries or contributions. Nobel Prize is a case in point. Winners of Nobel Prize not only establish a world-wide reputation but also share a large sum of money, the sum of which adds up to about one million dollars for each award. In short, whether from spiritual or material aspects, the society evidently exhibits a preference for those with high intellects.

Frankly speaking, compared to the intellectual capacity, it is the emotional capability, equally critical for the development of a person,  that lacks sufficient attention. For the individual, it is typical for contemporary people to be unable to adjust themselves to the changing circumstances, especially with regard to spiritual state. An increasing occurrence of suicides and depression just explain such poor adjustment for themselves. Though the more competitive surrounding shall to be blame to some degree, with a sense of self-control, people shall undoubtedly accomplished in  reassuring the pressure imposed and keep a healthy and positive mood. For the public relations, nowadays the tendency of indifference distinguishes modern people from those living in the past. Accompanied with rapid technological advancement, people seem to be more interested in the pursuit of a independent life, while ignore or even disdain necessary interaction with others. Yet one fundamental fact shall never be denied -- that as a member of the society, an integral part of the whole, they inevitably have to communicate and deal with others. In other words, since people are not living in an isolated world, it is impossible for an individual to avoid any communication with others, it is never, in some sense, too exaggerate to claim that an individual survives depending on others. Unfortunately, contemporaries gradually lose such sense and strive to be a truly independent successful figure.

In conclusion, intellect has already received too, instead of not enough emphasis from our society. What really worth to be focused and emphasized lies in the improvement of one's power to feel and to will.

Firstly, the education of the next generation focusing (这个进行时作甚?) mainly on the improvement of their intellectual level reflects such unbalance. (OK)

Besides, society also confer high-profit awards to them as material rewards (这就是传说中的物质奖励?). (OK)

Accompanied with rapid technological advancement, people seem to be more interested in the pursuit of a independent life (独立自主地生活反面应该是受约束的生活吧,呵呵,而刚愎自用的生活或者自以为了不起而看不起别人的生活可能就行了,不过这不好表达阿), while ignore or even disdain necessary interaction with others. Yet one fundamental fact shall never be denied -- that as a member of the society, an integral part of the whole, they inevitably have to communicate and deal with others. In other words, since people are not living in an isolated world, it is impossible for an individual to avoid any communication with others, it is never, in some sense, too exaggerate to claim that an individual survives depending on others (我觉得你的角度是人们必须和外界交流所以要有能力交流,其实我认为许多人还是有能力交流的,只是交流的好不好罢了,所以建议你的第二个分论点从cooperation和individual ability的角度去分析较好). Unfortunately, contemporaries gradually lose such sense and strive to be a truly independent successful figure.

In conclusion, intellect has already received too, instead of not enough emphasis from our society. What really worth to be focused and emphasized lies in the improvement of one's power to feel and to will.
