Internet, to some extent, can be viewed as a virtual version of transportation. Think about it, it has become true to shop on the Internet,contact by email and even attend online school. So it is another conflict bettween virtuality and reality. Although it is recognized that Internet is an essential and important tool in the Information Age, it doesn't mean that it deserves more government funding than public transportation. We should notice that the improvement of public transportation is urgent. If this problem is not well resolved, it will damage our society.

Public transportation still make up a larger part of our daily life than Internet does. Although more and more online activities have arisen, face-to-face contact is the mainstream and will be so in the near future. So there is always a large number of population who need drive or take bus to work, fly to another state to visit relatives, and so on.I guess most of us have experienced being jammed on the road when we rush to work, or no airline tickets which allow us to fly back home and get together with parents during festivals. These are awful enough, not to mention that in some poor rural areas people have to walk because there are no buses to take. As long as we have to go outside, we will be faced with these problems. Considering this, can you say that public transportation is in less need of government funding than the access to Internet? If things relevant to almost everyone's life is not taken good care of and basic living problems are not resolved, how can the government persuade us that it cares about the welfare of the populace?

In addition, the rapidly growing population make the problem of public transportation even severer. It is often said that without Internet, we will lose the pace of modern social development. However, population increases no slower than the modern society develops. If the public transportation system is not reformed immediately, you will be jammed more frequently on the road and it will be even harder for you to fly home during festival. Our life will be massively affected by then. So since we can see the danger near us, why not grant more fund to the public transportation system right now and prevent the damage before it happens?

Access to Internet and public transportation, both play significant roles and both are massive projects which need quite a lot of money. However, for the society's sake it would be better to give priority to the latter which is remained to improve for longer time and more urgent.
