University students should be required to take basic science classes even if they are not part of the field of the study

感觉思路纠结在一起了。。。

It has long been debated whether all university students should be required to take basic science classes. Is it really both indispensible and beneficial, as some people asserts, or is it totally unnecessary? From my point of view,
the advantages of this suggestion outweigh its disadvantages, and should be bolstered.


Admittedly, for some students, the art students for example, learning basic scientific knowledge is not a necessity for achievement in careers. I could make a long list of names of people who knew virtually nothing about science yet achieved great accomplishment in history, from Vincent Van Gogh, Nick Drake to Kurt Cobain, Proving that without basic science knowledge people could also do something great

However, there is no denying that for most individuals, basic science knowledge will contribute a lot to future life and career. So many great scientific discoveries have been made in the latest several hundred years that people will have difficulty in understanding some simplest facts without basic science knowledge. For example, the knowledge of genetics could help teenagers understand, rather that treat as an allegation, how nicotine could serve to interfere the reproduction of genes in cell division process and tremendously increase the chance of having a cancer, leading to their making up their mind to stay away from cigarettes.

Another reason why all students had better learn some basic science knowledge lies in that some science knowledge is so basic that they serve as the foundation on which all the other intellectual disciplines are rested. For example, social scientists and anthropologists need math methods to analyze the results of their researches. Not to mention introducing the method using by science speculation to other domains sometimes lead to great interdisciplinary innovation—think about how John Nash develop the game theory inspired by math principles.

As mentioned above, learning basic science classes are of great benefit to individuals. It is highly recommended that universities take this suggestion and offer basic science classes to all students.

文章举例时，都是用for example引出的，例子也像是在说理。如果改编成貌似真实的例子，可能更有说服力，读起来感觉也比较真，适当展开，也多些字数嘛，嘿嘿。

文章里好多长句啊。。。有时候短句也能体现写作功力，看着也舒服些吧，个人观点。
