All life is future to past, everyday sends future to past. So, history is sent by our fathers. Then, it should be learned by us. The history and our daily life is combined, can not be separated. Meaningful history must have the relation to the daily life. However, history is more meaningful than daily life, which is not the whole part of life. Thus I disagree a little with the author’s argument.


The meaning of history to daily life is that history makes the life meaningful. History as salt, and life is like water, in this metaphor to enjoy a delicious soup, you can not only eat salt, which make you feel bad, or drink flat water, which is boring. What you need to do is put fit salt into the water, which means you salt makes the water meaningful. Just take the words as example, almost every word has a beautiful history, which makes us awe to the wisdom of human. In many ways, history of the words is just the history of civilization. 'Thanksgiving' is created for the celebration of the corporation of British and Indian, for the love of God. It represents the beginning of U.S., which changes the world. Thus, history of 'Thanksgiving' makes the daily life 'Thanksgiving' beautiful, and makes people awe to God. Without history, all of these like dreams.

However, the research of history that has no relation to the life is the not the waste of life, on the verse, it is even more meaningful. People may consider there are a lot of money spent, time consumed, people engaged. The truth is not that. Through musing on World War, we know the reason of war. Stop fighting for something, and then stop dying for these things, then worth dying for other things. Peace can be founded only by thinking over how to avoid the war. We should drop the gun; get what we want in a peaceful way. Actually, war is so far from daily life and important history.
On the other hand, without expanding to the more area, history just concrete words, concepts, and formulas, which make people hard to understand. Then the real meaning of history is undiscovered. Young man who wants to be hero will be interested in the life of Napoleon, he will be hero (peaceful Napoleon of course) just for one day. People who love rock and roll will want to learn something about what happened to John Lennon, who made the simple music to teach people to love and be free; how did Bob Dylan grew up, who is adored by nearly worldwide, he will be a rock and roll hero someday. So we know, research of history relevant to the daily life is less meaningful than expanding areas.

The spirits of the nation can be handled down by the study of history. First, some questions such as, 'where are you from? why are you here?' is answered. American started from 'Mayflower', who always believe in better lives and want to take a advantage; Egyptian began at the River Neo, who love the sun and the nature; and we Chinese people are the children of 'Yan and Huang', who are traditional and ethic self restrict. Second, history is not just statistics, spirits are handled down. History are flowing like endless rain into the cup of now, pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through a opening mind. Gorgeous. Both aspects are the spirits of the nation.


In sum, history is more meaningful, beautiful to life than to daily life. Daily life belongs to life, spirits of nation belongs to life, wars belongs life. From history we had the feeling we live longer because we continue others life. Researching the history can make our life more reasonable, more adorable.
