I agree with the assertion that the study of history is of high value when it is relevant to our daily lives. Yet, it goes to extreme as suggest that history is useless when it comes to other respects. In my observation, however, history plays an important role in both our daily lives and the development of all human beings.

The studying of history has influence on our daily lives. From biographies of history’s great explorers, leaders, and other achievers we can recognize the greatness and spirits of them. And learning about the courage and tenacity of these stellar historical figures inspires us to be successful. A most striking example is perhaps Bruno, an advocator of Copernicus’s theory that the earth and other planets goes around the sun, which challenged the authority of the church, and then persecuted and burnt. His courage in the pursuit of truth affects us deeply, and provide people in modern days motivation to face their own personal fears in life when in the face of adversity, and courage to stick to pursue the truth rather than submit to the authority, all of which are beneficial to our everyday life and key factors of one's success.  

We can also resort to history when it comes to how to deal with tough work through the study of history. A typical case in point involves the area of business, where case studies enable business people to confront their every day challenges. Managers can take appropriate action quickly although they have never addressed those kinds of matters before by researching the similar cases happened in the past, and therefore have more chances to beat their competitions and earn a profit.

When it is not relevant to our daily lives, however, history is still worthy to study. Francis Bacon once said, "History makes man wiser." so does the society. History serves as a mirror for our society and prevents our government from repeating the mistake happened in the past. Take the World War for example, which throw over hundreds of thousands of people calamity and lowing the economical productivity of many countries in last century. Government will be more rational and calculating  when deal with the pressing social problems and international affairs in order to make great effort to avoid such a disaster breaking out again and to establish an atmosphere of peace around the world.

Moreover, it is history that teaches us to cherish our mores, values, and ideals and. Every country has its own history, through studying the development of one country and visit some historical wonders such as the great wall in China and pyramid in Egypt, people will not only appreciate the greatness of mankind but also be proud of the spirits of their traditions.

In sum, history is of great benefits, which not only contribute to our daily lives but the development of all human beings and societies. Thus, we should study history, no matter whether it is relevant to our daily lives or not.
