提纲：论点：的确电视媒体对政府工作的报道能使得社会大众收益，但并不是这类的电视报道越多越好，因为这种做法不但不会有效，而且花销巨大，从而是对社会有限资源的一种浪费。
1.电视及各种媒体对政府工作的报道的确可以让政府机构的运作更加趋于透明化，从而起到加强监督的作用，能供促进民主制度的发展与完善。
2.但是如果这类对政府的报道太多，也不一定有人会去看，因为大多数人看电视主要是为了娱乐。而且，把大量的政府的工作过程搬上电视荧屏花费巨大，因此是不可行的。
3.而且在独裁专制的政府统治之下，包括电视在内的媒体都在政府的完全控制之下，在这种情况下，电视上播放的政府工作过程多是正面的歌功颂德，不但对社会没有好处，相反是有害的。

108"In many countries it is now possible to turn on the television and view government at work. Watching these proceedings can help people understand the issues that affect their lives. The more kinds of government proceedings—trials, debates, meetings, etc—that are televised, the more society will benefit."

The statement above obviously contends that the more government proceedings were televised,the more the whole society will benefit.In my point of view,although it is true that the public will benefit a lot from overseeing the work of their government on television,it is not the case that the we should unlimitedly televise the proceedings of the government since it is not merely ineffective,but extremly costly,thus a waste of the resource of the whole society.
I concede that it is a conparatively effective way for the public to be informed of what their government is doing or has done by watching television,and that is crucial for them to exert their right of supervising in that only by being well-informed of the work of the government,can an individual form his own judgement on the performance of the government,that is he or she can watch the President to fufill the promises which he had made when he asked for the supporters’ votes,or figure out that those are nothing but lies with his own eyes.Moreover,the democracy has been greatly promoted by various kinds of report on television especially when there are important events that draws attentions nationwide.For example,in the 2005 Presidential Election campaign,televisons plays such an vital role for both the public and the norminees for the presidency.It is through the advertisements on television that we became more aware of the policies of the candidates while the candidates use televisions to transport their ideas and political philosophies to much more people than he could by himself only.And also it is quite necessary for us to know that how a new bill was passed in the congress and whether the whole procedure was legal because it will directly affect our lives.Therefore,watching the process of the government at work is conducive to the development and health of the democracy of a society.
However,it is indiscreet to state that the more kinds of government proceeding being televised,the more the society will benefit since the main reason for an individual to turn on television is mostly to find some entertainment rather than to oversee the performance of the government which is concidered tedious by those who had no interest in politics.And it is also true that not everthing that the government does is worth to be televised and watched.Even if there are some people who are very much interested in politics,there are still 24 hours a day for them,thus although there might be so many government proceedings,they have no time to watch them all.What is more important,it is astonishin expensive to televise the government at work ,conduct report on the behavior of the government and broadcast the program.For only 15 seconds of the golden time,usually the evening time,it will take millions of dollars to broadcast an advertisement,then one can estimate how much money will be needed to make the televised government proceedings available on television for the public.So it is unadvised for us to televise as many government proceedings as possible because it is just impossible due to the economic aspect.
In addition,in countries like China,all the media,including the television,are controled by the Communist Party and serve as the tool for the autocracy.There are a lot of television reports and properganda for the work of the government,but most of the time it is about the positive and successful achievement and seldom can the public found some dissenting voice about the decision made by the Communist Party or reports on issue concerning the corruption of the government on television because no one is stupid enough to deny himeself.In such case,it is the television that misleads us away from the truth,and that is disastrous instead of beneficial.
In conclusion,watching the government working on television is rather a fine means by which we can more efficiently obtain the information we needs to exercise our rights of supervising,by which the effective operation of the democratic system can be guaranteed,instead of a preoccupation,and it is not only impossible,but unnecessary for us to televiise as more proceedings of the government as possible.
