1．        现代教育的基本理念之一是使学生在掌握基本知识和技能的基础上，能够用批判和创新的态度来分析社会和个人。所以会对社会和信息进行批判性的接受或改进，貌似对社会的和谐造成了威胁
2．        批判和创新同社会和谐不矛盾。前者促进了社会的科技，教育，民主等各个方面的进步，这个是社会和谐的前提；同时它促进社会成员的沟通和理解，没有及时和恰当的沟通，使问题得到解决，社会很难保持和谐
3．        批判和创新的时候要注意不能为了批判而批判

One of the basic aims of modern education is to foster students’ ability to question and criticize independently based on the basic knowledge they acquire in schools. Some people begin to worry  that too much critical way of thinking would unavoidably pose threaten to the harmony of the society. This is quite unfounded, because critical way of thinking of the students benefits social harmony by promoting the development of the society and more importantly, by finding out the problems and rooting out the possible danger.

Modern education takes it a high priority to encourage students to question and to criticize, and this may sometimes break the existing balance. Originally, educators believed it was more important for students to remember facts and information and accept the established. When needed, students could just refer to the instilled knowledge and follow the convention. Yet in modern times, with the rapid development of science and technology, every day we are confronted with ideas and events we have never met before. If we can not think critically and just follow routines, it may be hard to yield in high productivity. In this process of constantly making new decisions and taking different roads from before, the original balance and order seems broken。

But this kind of constant critic and question actually promotes the development of our society and then enhance its stability and harmony. No society can claim its economy, education, democracy etc have been fully developed. There are always various problems remained to be solved or adjusted. If education only offers society with talents who only know to follow the convention or book knowledge, how could the problems be found and then solved? In the 1970s in China, Chairman Mao Zedong made the decision to launch the Cultural Revolution all over China. Many people who had been too much accustomed to listening to whatever the authority said never doubted if this was a right decision。  The movement lasted for several years and caused tremendous economical loss and death of innocent people. Finally it is the joint efforts of a group of leaders who dare to question and criticize who put an end to this disaster. Deng Xiaoping， one of the prominent leader who helped ending this movement， later reflected that actually the education he received in France which gave a major focus on the ability to question and criticize gave him a lot of help in judging the situation and made the fianl decision。If  those people have not been fostered or consciously trained themselves to critic and question, it would be hard to imagine what China would be  like today.


But in our daily life, it is necessary for us to remember that in questioning and criticizing, there is one thing we must remember. The basic aim of critics and questions is to improve the imperfect reality and promote the development of the field we are majored in, instead of questioning for its own sake. This is worth mentioning because in present society, some people have formed the habit of being not satisfied with whatever they see or meet. They engage themselves in countless and pointless questioning. For instance, nowadays, some people would shed doubts all the established institutions  such as the educational systems, the democracy or even the basic laws of a nation. They refuse to accept the good points of the present society and would like to pose their nose on everything. This kind of trend is actually dangerous and does little to promote the harmony of our society.

For human race, it is because of the ability to question and criticize that we find the problems in our society and then work out solutions to further advancement. Harmony is constantly rebuilt in this process of questioning and modification. Thus the modern education benefits the social harmony.

This kind of trend is actually dangerous and does little to promote the harmony of our society.[第一，在上一段从反面举例之后，可以马上从正面说critical的好处，如你所说，“促进了社会的科技，教育，民主等各个方面的进步”（把这些一条条展开说这篇文章简直perfect啊）。这样上下一正一反，相得弥张（好像不是这几个字。汉语也是文盲，唉）（好像是欲盖弥彰。。。请教一下中文该怎么说）而这段的内容在这么短的文章内，很容易让人觉得跑题了，因为你连对主题论述还没有结束呢（或者说还不够呢），就把话题转到另一方面了。第二，就算没有跑题，你的表述也容易让人觉得有些乱，刚说要critical，马上说critical不能过头。我想你的意思是做个让步，但在西瓜没有吃完的情况下来顾及这个芝麻不太合适。因为你完全可以在结尾开头用一句带过就行了：的确，过头会造成不和谐，但是。。。。]

For human race, it is because of the ability to question and criticize that we find the problems in our society and then work out solutions to further advancement. Harmony is constantly rebuilt in this process of questioning and modification. Thus the modern education benefits the social harmony.[最后两句合并：Since harmony is constantly rebuilt, not destroyed, in the process of q and m, the modern education thus greatly benefits the social harmony. ]

兄台批的很是，有茅塞顿开之感。呵呵，最后两段，因为写到6点的时候到交作业的时间了，急的不行，就开始胡说八道了，关于邓小平那个，让您见笑了：）
几个回答：
1。too much way of critical thinking 整体上可以把后面的作为抽象名词来用
2。第二段开头的确是加了让步词感觉好很多
3。相得益彰
