Only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress.
------正文------
There is an on-going debate over only through mistakes we make progress or discovery. Some people may maintain that because of the mistakes, we will know what is wrong and find the right way to make progress, while others insist that if we premeditate and prepare the things carefully before we do, we can make discovery or progress without mistakes. In my view, I concede that mistakes sometimes promote us to make discoveries and progress. However, what we should do is to build a correct view toward the mistakes and think carefully before doing everything in order to avoid mistakes.
First of all, sometimes mistakes can give us advices and experience to achieve progress or discovery. When we meet an event that people have never done before, we cannot guarantee what we do will be in the right way. Through the mistakes, we can acknowledge what is our disadvantage, and how we do can make the things better. Then by this way, we can do the things in a better way. An apt illustration of this point involves Edison. After thousands of times failing in trying metals, he found the suitable metal for filament eventually. Could he know the suitable one at first without trying others? The answer is no. In fact, mistakes are effective tools help us to make progress to some extent.
In addition, we can also make great progress or discovery by careful preparing. Actually in the history, not all the discoveries or progresses were made through mistakes. Many of them were made in a direct way, by thoughtful person through careful planning or working. To make this point clearly, we can see the example about Halley. After several year's observation about comets and careful scrutinizing about the records, Halley found that a unique comet that would appear every 76 years periodically. Another case is about Einstein. After his profound investigation about relationship between time and space for several years, he found the relative theory that has changed our views dramatically. These examples illustrate that people's effort can avoid mistakes.
Last but not least, the attitude toward mistakes should be positive, and we should try our best to do everything we are capable of to avoid mistakes. Although mistake is not always a bad thing, and we can make progress through it, it in general wastes our time and money, and impedes the development of society.这句建议修改下 太长了 快弄不明白你在哪里转折了 For instance, the failure of space shuttle of "Columbia" is a big disaster for the Unite State. Because of some minor faults, the space shuttle went to pieces and seven staff lost their life. This is a big loss to both their families and the country. Although this time the " Discovery "space shuttle achieved success at the expense of Columbia disaster, we should try our best to avoid that mistake for it was too tremendous to sustain.
In conclusion, it is very likely that people will never be able to arrive at the same conclusion on this controversial issue. However, due to the reasons mentioned above, we can draw a safe conclusion that sometimes we make progress through mistakes, but the right attitude toward mistakes is to try our best to avoid them before things were done.
整体来说 写的真的不错 论点很清晰 论据也很好 加油哦 |
