TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

Will education be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the needs of each student and individual interests? The speaker thinks so, because it is commonly recognized that the principle of individualized instruction is an effective method in pedagogy. However I think the statement oversimplify the real situation. So I can only partly agree with it.

I cannot deny that the speaker's statement is reasonable to some extent because whether the education satisfies the special needs and interests of the individual is one of the standards through which we can make the judgment whether this education style is effective or not. Sometimes it is a better choice to teach different student differently, according to their various aptitude. As we all known, the great scientist Albert Einstein hated the dull regimentation and unimaginative spirit of school in his early age. Finally he left school. With the help of his mother he started his splendid journey to be a famous physicist. He quitted the school because the school education cannot meet his individual interests while his mother's teaching fulfills his individual needs and set a good start point of his success afterwards.

However, not every student is Einstein. It is entirely impossible that every student can realize his/her individual needs and interests clearly. And another problem comes that the so-called needs and interests will probably change with the growth of the student gradually.  For example, the founder of the sun-centered system, best known astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus studied the liberal arts, medicine and law in his early age. His geographical and astronomical interests were greatly stimulated by his mathematics professor, whom Copernicus lived with when he was studying the canon law in the university. This transition of interest triggered a new era in the science. If he did not change his interest to astronomy, our human being might still be misled by the false thesis. This instance indicates us that the decision and foster such interest too early maybe an obstacle for the further development of the students.

What is worse, we would sacrifice some important content that is necessarily to be taught to the students such as math or ones mother language etc. After all, not every student knows exactly what on earth is significant to him or her in the future, especially to some students who have no interest to any course in school at all except the video games. The education will obviously be ineffective if we leave these students alone. So it is necessary to have some obligatory subjects in the school.

In short, the author's statement is oversimplified. The modification of the criterion according to different situation will be a wise choice. The individual needs and interests will lead the students like Einstein and Copernicus to the right direction, but on the other hand, lead the students only have interest in video games to nobody. So using different method to teach different student makes the education more effective.

This instance indicates us that the decision and foster such interest too early maybe an obstacle for the further development of the students.(差不多是在论证学生的兴趣会转移,没有进一步论证兴趣会转移会导致教育不能按学生的兴趣来,这样才扣上了题目)

So it is necessary to have some obligatory subjects in the school.(此段论证比较单薄,几句话很难让人信服)

In short, the author's statement is oversimplified. The modification of the criterion according to different situation will be a wise choice. The individual needs and interests will lead the students like Einstein and Copernicus to the right direction, but on the other hand, lead the students only have interest in video games to nobody. 言还是比较流畅,但是论证方面都不是特别深入
有时间看看我的,谢谢
