should the government focus more on preserving nature environment and less on economic development?

Whether government should focus more on preservation of natural environment than the economic development is obviously a complex issue.In my opinion, different answers might apply for different situations.


I concede that the preservation of nature environment is important for the sustainable development of the entire human race. However we could not rule out the fact that some less developed countries face many more crucial problems other than the environment preservation. Take some countries in Africa for example, due to long years of endless war and many historical issues, those countries are much less developed than the average level of human civilization. Even in current days, hunger and lack of drinkable water still threatens millions of lives living in these lands. So under such circumstance, it will not come as a surprise that government of these countries should first try to develop its economy in order to support a better living standard for its people. In fact these countries are known to be rich in mine and oil resources, so it will be reasonable for these countries to try to make use of the natural resources they are gifted, rather than simply preserving them. In a sense, the development of economy might exceeds the importance of preservation of nature environment for some countries.

Still, it should be noted that for most more developed countries, the preservation of nature environment is indeed a crucial and urgent issue. In fact, if we still do not pay enough attention to this problem, there will be loom a big question mark for the thrive and even survive of the entire human race. We live in a world where natural resources are running out day by day ,where global warming has put the billions of lives living along the see to great danger and where we humans are punished almost at every aspect of modern life for the damage we made to our mother earth.Taking into account of all these fact, it becomes clearly that not only should we try to preserve and rebuild the nature environment that we live on, but also this step must be taken now. Thus, it will be quite reasonable for the more developed countries to give their priority in the preservation of nature environment as to ensure a sustainable development that will benefit our future generations.


To conclude, for some less developed countries, the first thing they should consider is how to guarantee the basic need of their people, thus for these countries the economic development is more important than the preservation of nature environment. However for the majority of the global community, the latter is indeed a more crucial issue that must be taken steps into now.
