In this assertion, the speaker claims that all the observation is subjective colored by our expectation or desires. From this we may learn the two key points, to which I disagree, of the speaker’s that the observation is entirely subjective and it reasons for men’s expectation and
desires only. In fact, instead of the observation, our reflection of it is the only thing that can be judged as subjective or objective. In addition, the expectation and desires are the only two of the facts, which includes such as our mood or the outer environment, influencing the view of our observation.
In my opinion, observation is the only image of what we see that reflects in our mind. So it is obviously that all the normal people will have the same image when face to the same scene. For example, when looking at a same paint, different people will definitely have the same image in there mind as long as they haven’t have any physical problems. It means that the content, the colors or even the size of the picture are all the same for no matter how many people who have see it. So even taking both the subjectivism and the objectivism in to consideration, the image of the painting is still itself without any changes. Apparently, how can something which is all the same for all the people is judged as subjective or objective? Therefore, the speaker’s assertion that all the observation is subjective is illogical. But as the reflection of the observation, it may be diversity during to the differences of the people. Thus, for the same instance, even though people have the same observation of that picture, the criticism will be different depending on the observer’s different aesthetic quality.
Nevertheless, is it possible that all the reflection of our observation is subject? Maybe not. I admit that some is subject but not all. One of the most important ways to tell apart them is time. In fact, the cognizance of our natural principles or objects is an apt illustration of this point in most cases. For example, as the most widely used principle, the usual arithmetic theory, which has been stetted up for at least hundreds of years, is also a result of the observation of the number. But during the past hundreds of years, this theory has been proved to be right and indubitability. Comparing with other subjective cognizances , the steady arithmetic theory is definitely an objective acknowledge of the number.
On the other hand, the facts influencing people’s reflection of the observation is variety, not only the expectation or desires. Expectations or desires are main factors only when the observation is far from people's expectations. But some facts with no direct relation with the act of observation itself is also might be an important reason such as the mood of the observer. May be many people have the experience that when being happy, you will feel all the usual same things around you is much more beautiful even the most meaningless wisp you have never notice before. This is an typical example of the subject cognizance effect.
All in all, even though people will have simple same observation, they will have different understand whether subjective or objective which is influenced by many facts. So the speaker confuse the observation with the reflection of it and make the reason of it much easier.
