Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose between them.


The tradition and modernization, as the speaker asserts, are incompatible. I concede that the there are some collision between tradition and modernization in some respects, such us the dressing style. Yet, there are still some places that they can exist in harmony with each other or being make use of by combining these two elements.

It is true that the convention and modernization are incompatible in some respect. if the element of tradition be found in the element of modernization or vice versa, we will quickly feel it is not consist with the environment. For example，if people wearing the suit of people thousands years ago walking on the street of today`s modern city, he will quickly attract people`s attention, and we will find he is so outstanding for the reason that he is not consist with the other people who wearing clothes of modern fashion, such us the western suit, skirt, and jeans. and if we see several wooden houses with traditional style standing between the modern mansions constructed with concrete and glasses, we will also fell weird.

However, there are some occasions that the tradition can compatible with the modernization， and some time we even could not able to tell what part is traditional or modern. This is evident in the literature. there are some novels that use the modern way to
depict the stories happened in the ancient time, the words and the way of the writer used to presents the story are modern, yet, we can see the social environment and the story itself are traditional，and there are some old way of writing skill such us old poem and prose are presented in the book.

Moreover, the tradition and modernization can be combined to achieve a more desirable result rather than choose between them. For example, the Chinese traditional medicine are use to be upbraid for that the theory of this conventional medicine are something that related to metaphysic. However, the long time experience told us the Chinese medicine is particularly effective in some chronic diseases and rare illness. Currently，we can see that the traditional Chinese medicine are combined with the western medicine, and the effects are improved and the side effects are reduce or even eliminated.

in sum, the tradition and the modernization are not compatible insofar as they are not harmony in the style, yet, they can be combined with each other such us in the literature and medical.
