Living in a era that various of arts flourishing, people may concern whether the artists or the critic gove something lasting value to the society. On balance, the artists ebdow calue to the art, and it is the artists who give constant value to the society.

Art, which defined as derived from artists' inner world, is a kind of catharsis to express the emotion, ideals and ideas of the artists that lurked deeply in heart. It is a special way to inform people and display to people that the world in their perspectives and what they wish the wold to be. Art is a source of communication to the world, thus art itself owns its own value.
Artist is the people who creat the art by his / her perspective. During the process of creating , artist has already endowed the special and personal subjective value into the work, the process of creating art is a process of making value.

However, some arts are easy to be understood by people while the others are recondite for people to comprehend. Artists merely endue certain meaning into the arts but not aims to give birth to lasting value to the society.Thus the obligation of giving society something lasting value calls for the birth of critics.

Some works are easy to be comprehend by people, thus people can understand what the artist is eager to express. Howevr, majority of people’s understanding only stagnate in unidimention(one aspect) while critics who possess particular perspectives and have appreciated many works, hence have more professional skills of appreciating works, tend to comprehend it from a more professional way. They perceive things from several aspects. They can give light to the people and make them understand the work more comprehensively.
To the easily understood works, critics tend to give novel and different meaning to the work, endow it with the character of that time, from time to time, thus make the work to bring about lasting value to the society.


For example, the masterpiece of Mona Lisa. This masterpeice has been passed down from generation to generation , it still merits the great appreciation from crowd of people to come through the world. The value of this work is tremendous. At the begining it is just regarded as a picture of woman immersed in the fret sorrow of losing baby, then some other assumtions follwed with the lapse of time. Critics of different time endowed dissimilar meaning to that work. The work keeps in the giant spotlight and has the lasting value to the society.

When it comes to the hardly understooded works, critics play a more significant role in making them to have lasting value to society. Critics explain the meaning of it and make people understand it thus gradually accpeted by the society.
For examlple, the great artists Vincent Van Gogh, who was an impressionism precursor. People at that time hardly can undersatnd his desperate action of cutting his own ear and the relating works. It is the critics give birth to its lasting value since more and more comments on it, his genius gradulally aroused people’s attention. Untill several years later,people came to acknowledge his skill and way of creating, he is treated as the founder of impressionism and this genre is so prevailing until today. The critics illustrate the recondite works to give the lasting value to the society.


In conclusion, the artists give birth to the art and endow them with particular bearings. Due to dissimilar comprehention of people, it is the critics help analyse the profound meaning of the work ,thus lead to lasting value to the society.
