9.5 Is it more important for teachers to have communication skill than have more academic knowledge?

With advent of increasing people focusing on psychological sound, teachers are obliged not to pay more attention on academic program. For decades, teachers have only cared about academic achievement and never considered students’ emotion state. Particularly, psychological communication has never been familiar in China. Interpersonal skill is necessary between teachers and students at present, as teachers need to know their students’ dreams and characters, which could help to fulfill healthy mind. So I tend to support that it is more essential for teachers to have communication skills.

To begin with, communication can assist teachers to understand their students. If students’ personalities cannot be known, they would have negative attitude towards the world and life. Under this situation, schoolwork will be ignored by students, even if teachers obtain academic knowledge. There is a case from my cousin that her teacher, a middle aged woman, only pays attention to academic study. Once she found any student was dating, what she can do is to have criticized in front of class. Those students felt embarrassed in their heart. It seems like it is not normal for young people to have feelings. It can be understood that when those youth are got in love, they would be impacted negatively without appropriate education. Abortion and truancy phenomenon should be avoided on those young people. From my cushion, some of her classmates already met that problem, hence teachers ought to be as psychologists if need. Communication is definitely significant between teachers and students, because it could reduce juveniles’ problem and also stir their hearts to struggle for future studying. Lacking of communication, students will keep distance from teachers, which may cause dislike towards schoolwork.

Students will get achieve in different fields if teachers could find their benefits. Communication ability plays an essential role to bring convenience to teachers. They need to encourage students in both academic program and personal life. A healthy and active mind is the foundation to research the future; meanwhile one of human nature shows that people would have stronger capacity if be appraised and cared.

To conclude, communication ability should be developed as it is more pivotal than knowledge. Students’ innate world should be understood and communication can help teachers to fulfill it.
