Is it better to learn a variety of knowledge about many kinds of fields or just good at one subject? It is a really complex question for many people, especially for our students, since the answer of the question would influence one's studying methods and ways. As for me, I prefer to specialize on one field which I am not only interested in but also good at. The reasons are as follows.
First and foremost, we have to realize that after the industrialization, more and more jobs are requiring only one or two skills. From batter trades是不是货货交易?barter trades to modern companies, people don't need to know everything about their works. Just take the P&G Company for example. The big company has many different departments such as research and development, designing and sales department. Those departments demand different people, their recruitment requirements are varied. Sales department usually employ the persons who have good communication skills and the ability to increase market share. The research and development department usually needs employees could invent new products, thus they must have good educational background.嗯,例子挺好得支持了观点!赞一个!
Secondly, since a person devotes all his time to only one subject, he can know the cutting edge of the field好语言!and good at what he has learn. In other words, he is the expert in that field. For example, to be a doctor is not an easy thing. It requires years to study hard. However, as a person graduate from a medical college or get the doctoral certificate, he can easily find a job in the hospital and receive high salaries and good reputation. People respect those experts since they could contribute what they learn to the society.
Last but not least, the modern society does not lack people who have broad knowledge about various subjects. Even high school students have the basic knowledge about chemistry, physics, and biology and so on. What the society or firms lack are specialists.
To sum up, specializing only one subject is enough to get high salaries and own a good reputation in the modern society. Experts are what the society desire. When you devote much time in one field and become a specialist in that subject, you won't worry about your job. Therefore, I believe that specializing in one subject would have more advantages than learning broad knowledge of many subjects.
