It is widely held that study is important especially in this rapidly developing world. Accordingly, looking for an effective and efficient way to study becomes a focused issue in society. Some people say that study would be more effective if we spend at least 11 months per year in classes. I could hardly agree with this opinion.

Admittedly, longer school time could be efficient to some extent, because certain amount of time is needed to learn a subject well and deep enough. Take law for example, you have to read tons of cases and listen carefully in classes before you get an idea about what a specific law is talking about. And people forget things easily without taking enough time to digest them. This is true especially for big subjects like maths and physics, because these subject contain so much contents that it is impossible for students to fully master those stuffs within a short period of time.

However, instead of being efficient, excessive classes imposes undue burden on the students. After an intense period of study, students need a break. Without enough time to release pressures, students would feel reluctant, rather than, willing to go back to study. When students are not driven by their interests to have classes, but merely confined by restrictions imposed on them, efficiency could hardly be assured. That's why we are having summer and winter vacations. Besides, students need to have more time with their families. Their family members encourage and motivate them to study. If one had classes for at least eleven months a year, communication with his/her family would be limited.

In addition, social practice is another effective way of studying. Although knowledges absorbed in classes room are important, equally important is experiences gained through practices. Through practices, students get a better idea on how to apply what they learn in the classroom. Those applications give students opportunities to find questions, get deeper into the subjects and obtain a wide angle. In this way, study is much more efficient and interesting than merely listening to lectures. If eleven months school time is required, there would not be adequate time for students to practise. This approach of study would not be efficient at all.

To sum up, in my point of view, having classes for eleven months a year is not an effective and efficient way to study.

However, instead of being efficient, excessive classes imposes undue burden on the students. After an intense period of study, students need a break. Without enough time to release pressures, students would feel reluctant, rather than,(这个地方不太对,主要rather than用的不怎么合适) willing to go back to study. When students are not driven by their interests to have classes, but merely confined by restrictions imposed on them, efficiency could hardly be assured. That's why we are having summer and winter vacations(貌似应该用holiday,我用的也是vacation,高人告诉我应该用holiday). Besides, students need to have more time with their families. Their family members encourage and motivate them to study. If one had classes for at least eleven months a year,(不用加the吗?) communication with his/her family would be limited.
