Nowadays people put more and more pressure on dressing and appearance, while I believe that it can’t be regarded as a factor to judge a person. In other words, it is good ideas and inner personalities rather than dresses that really determines.
First and foremost,good ideas and innovation gain people success and happiness both in their lives and careers. Albert Einstein, for example, always keeps a messy hair and untidy clothes. Everyone who has seen his photoes will agree that he isn’t a good looking person. But he is one of the greatest scientists in the history of mankind since his theory of relativity has changed our conception of time, space ,speed and gravity, which lays an indispensable foundation on the science history and even our human being’s future.
In addition, good looks and dresses may leave us a false impression. As we are know, human is a complicated creature and always good at disguise his or her shortcomings even the evil purposes. For example, many bilkers and thieves are well dressed and have a suitable manner. Thus people are easily to trust them and turn to them for help, such as ask for them to take care of their possessions or follow their instructions to some places. At last, when they realized they are cheated, they have suffered tremendous financial or physical loss.
Finally, emphasis on appearance and clothes cost people plenty of time and energy which maybe bring great benefits on other aspects. As a Chinese proverb says, “none of the persons possessions can compare to his real ability and learning.” I would like to take my cousin as an example. Since he was a small boy, he won a name of prince in his school. Then he gradually becomes too arrogant on his appearance and spent more time on making new girl friends and seizing latest fashion rather than studying and communicating with his classmates and teachers. Finally, he got a low score in college entrance examination and failed to enter his dream university. It’s a great pity for all of our families and him.
After analyzing the above reasons, I firmly believe that good ideas which will help us succeed amd make great contributions to the society are more important than Good looks and dresses which will leave us a false impression
and waste time and energy. I hope that our society and public shoud realize the importance of innovation and personalities and stop pursuiting the appearance and dresses in such a unreasonable extent.
