11.30 children should only play sports for fun, or play sports in competition or contests?

Some people recommend that children play sports only for fun, yet I find this point of view unilateral and shortsighted. Admittedly, childhood is the age about enjoying pure fun itself, yet we need to consider more factors in the long run. In my perspective, competetion and contests are still indispensable factors in childrenplaying sports.

First of all, competetion is what motivates children make progress at the subjects they play, also improve themselves. The bottom line is winning makes children feel good for themselves, and they will make a lot effort to keep this feeling, or achieve it, if they didn't win. Take tennis for instance, if a group of children plays just for fun, they may stay equally average at it, being satisfied at the situation. On the contrast, through competetion, they start to notic why somebody win and others don't, they knows where they are, and will consequantly try to figure out how to get ahead, meaning, practices kills, developing stratagies and becoming physically sronger. In this process, children learn independant thinking, practice team work, and build body shape. These possitive effects only come with contest insports.

Moreover, when competetion isn't involved, fun itself fades away. A vivid example is, if a child doesn't care to win, he or she would soon feel tired of throwing the ball again and again into a basket, or waving the racquet against a wall all day. One thing after another, the next certain idea would be giving up. Tens of thousands of people cheer for a touchdown in super ball games, yet what would you do looking at a child hold a football alone and merely run ahead in the playground? Competetion leads to success, and success in turn brings more fun. In most conditions, lack of competetion is the fastest way of making a sport boring. Even with those forms of loners' sport, like runniing, competetion contributes happy feeling. I used to run every morning during my first year of middle school, there were several times I went very close to giving up, because raising at six o'clock every morning seem to be arduous work, especially during winter time. Fortunately, I managed to bring three of my friends join me. As soon as the running turned into a contest with the winner getting some little prize, morning naps didn't sound that appealling anymore, and we made it though the whole year.

Although it is true that sometimes competetion brings inappropriate conflict and depression when people lose, those impact can be minimized by proper management, and can't overshadow all the benefit that competetion provides in children's playing sports. Playing in forms of competetion and contests is of no doubt the better choice for children, not only by means of self-improving, but also for the sake of game fun itself.

感谢asandylau。我自己又小改了一下,这篇的结果比上一篇感觉好一点,因为在计时方面营私舞弊更多:L

(开头直接了当阐明观点。但是两句都用了yet...做转折。绿色为个人欣赏点~)
First of all, competetion is what motivates children to make progress at the subjects they play, as well as to improve themselves. The bottom line is winning makes children feel good for themselves, and(and 让我一开始产生误解,知道看到if才明白,我觉得应该用,另一方面,或者说相反地。。作联词)they will make a lot effort to keep this feeling, or achieve it, if they didn't win. Take tennis for instance, if a group of children plays just for fun, they may stay equally low-level at it, being satisfied at the situation. On the contrast(这里为何要用相反的?楼主还是在说competition 的好处,应该用moreover, futhermore做链接吧?) through competetion, they start to notice why somebody win and others don't, they knows where they are(they????children??还是缺陷???), and will consequently try to figure out how to get ahead, meaning, practices kills, developing strategies and becoming physically sronger. In this process, children practice independant thinking, learn about team work, and build body shape. These possitive effects only come from contest in sports.1 g) L! b% H8 x  w% s" p

谢谢shining的意见。我又做了点修改。
非常汗competition这个词是出现在题目中的,而我竟然还是不会拼,并且全文错了无数遍:mad:
改动了一些自以为聪明的复杂句,老实了一点。字数还是减不下来。。。

Some people recommend that children play sports only for fun, yet I find this point of view shortsighted. Admittedly, childhood is the age about enjoying pure fun itself, nevertheless, we need to consider more factors in the long run. In my perspective, competetion and contests are still indispensable factors for children playing sports.

First of all, competetion is what motivates children to make progress at the subjects they play, as well as to improve themselves. The bottom line is winning makes children feel good for themselves, that's why they will make a lot effort to keep this feeling after they win, or achieve it if they don't. Take tennis for instance, if a group of children play just for fun, they may stay equally low-level at it, being satisfied at the situation. Through competetion, they start to study why somebody win and others don't, and consequently try to figure out how to get ahead, meaning, practicing skills, developing strategies and becoming physically sronger. During this process, children practice independant thinking, learn about team work, and build healthy body shapes. These possitive effects only come from contest in sports.

Moreover, when competition isn't involved, fun itself fades away. A vivid example is, if a child doesn't care about the outcome of a game, he or she would soon feel tired of throwing the ball again and again into a basket, or waving the racquet against a wall all day. One thing after another, the next certain idea would be giving up. Tens of thousands of people cheer for a touchdown in super ball games, yet what would you do looking at a child hold a football alone and merely run ahead in the playground? Competition leads to success, and success in turn brings more fun. In most conditions, lack of competition is the fastest way to make a sport boring. This principle is true even with those forms of individual sport, like running. I used to run every morning during my first year of middle school, since raising at six o'clock every morning seem to be arduous work, I went very close to giving up several times. Fortunately, I managed to bring three of my friends join me. As soon as competetion was brought in, with the winner getting some little prize, morning naps didn't sound that appealling anymore, and we made it though the whole year.

Although it is true that sometimes competition brings inappropriate conflict and depression when people lose, those impacts can be minimized by proper management, and can't overshadow all the benefit that competition provides in children's playing sports. Playing in forms of competition and contests is of no doubt the better choice for children, not only by means of self-improving, but also for the sake of game fun itself.
