Should the scholars andresearchers not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution tothe larger society, only to pursue their own individual interests, no matterhow unusual or idiosyncritic those interests may seem? In several respects, thisposition has considerable merit;yet it ignores certain compelling arguments foremphasizing too much on personal interests.

Intrests are the best teachers. Doingresearch with interests in it is more easily to find some useful principlesapplied to our life,to summerize some rules guiding other fields of research. Inall,to make some accomplishment which is beneficial to the society. Inaddition, interest can give researchers more inspiratioms which take aninsignificant role in researching instead of the dull rutine daily work whichyou have to do because you live on it.The famous chemist Mendeleyev, whoformulated the periodic table of elements, first formed this pattern in hisdreams because of his unstopped thinking of the relationships between viriousatoms in which is also his intrests.Interests are the guide of some research.

The progress of technology, theimprovement of living stardards are all created
by researchers. With their scientific contribution,we enjoyed everypossible convenience brought by science. The use of computer and various digtalprocedures changed our life to a full extent. It is hard to imagine what theworld would be like if the scholars and researcher confined their research onlyto their interests .No progress in the society,no innovation in the mind, nomotivation in the life.It is really horrible. Moreover,to think about thedreadful results if their interests are in some respects which damage thewell-being of individuals.

The combanition of both can lead theresearchers contribute the society better. The aim of contributing the societyhelps to find the right direction. While researching is a painstaking process, withoutinterests, it is hard to insist on. What is more, research is to explor theunknown frontiers of the world, the result of which the researcher maybe notquite sure. Interest is the source of motivation to go through this difficultprocess.

In sum, the speaker overlooking the importanceof research made by scholars and researchers to our society, only emphasis ontheir interests .Actually, the combanition of them can make the scholars andresearchers research better, and the society develops better.

Should the scholars and researchers not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the larger society, only to pursue their own individual interests, no matter how unusual or idiosyncratic those interests may seem? In several respects, this position has considerable merit; yet it ignores certain compelling arguments for emphasizing too much on personal interests.

Intrests(interests) are the best teachers. Doing research with interests in it is more easily to find some useful principles applied to our life, to summerize (summarize) some rules guiding other fields of research(researches). In all, to make some accomplishment which is beneficial to the society.(这句话不完整前面句号改逗号) In addition, interest can give researchers more inspiratiomsinspirations
which take an insignificant role in researching instead of the dull rutine
routine daily work which you have to do because you live on it. The famous chemist Mendeleyev, who formulated the periodic table of elements, first formed this pattern in his dreams because of his unstopped thinking of the relationships between various atoms in which is also his intrestsinterests. Interests are the guide of some research.(门捷列夫的例子是为了说明inspiration的重要性成分居多,顺便后面也提到了是他的兴趣,为什么不直接想一个说明兴趣在科研的重要性的例子呢?这样看起来就使读者明白你想强调的是兴趣,而不是现在看起来的似乎主次有点颠倒~~~

The progress of technology, the improvement of living stardardsstandards are all created
by researchers. With their scientific contribution, we enjoyed every possible convenience brought by science. The use of computer and various digtal digitalprocedures changed our life to a full extent. It is hard to imagine what the world would be like if the scholars and researcher confined their research only to their interests .No progress in the society, no innovation in the mind, no motivation in the life. It is really horrible. Moreover, to think about the dreadful results if their interests are in some respects which damage the well-being of individuals.(没有例子说明使看起来不太充分,我不觉得电脑等数字科技的产生是离开科学家的兴趣的,我也无法得出这说明科学家是关心到社会的呢,也许它们的发明本来仅仅就是科学家兴趣的产物,更何况电脑的发明最初还是用在军事用途,也是破坏世界的那~~~

The combanitioncombination of both can lead the researchers contribute the society better. The aim of contributing the society helps to find the right direction. While researching is a painstaking process, without interests, it is hard to insist on. What is more, research is to explor explorethe unknown frontiers of the world, the result of which the researcher may be not quite sure. Interest is the source of motivation to go through this difficult process.(这一段话本来是需要阐明the balance of both的重要性,可是呢,似乎又回到前面去阐述interest的重要性,这段应使重点放在两个方面去行文比较好,仅仅点到一点the combination没有论证是无法让我信服的~~~)

In sum, the speaker overlooking the importance of research made by scholars and researchers to our society, only emphasis on their interests .Actually, the combanitioncombination of them can make the scholars and researchers research better, and the society develops better.(由于前段的论证没有,使最后两段看起来都是在总结和喊口号,似乎有点空洞~~~
