In this argument, the author makes the conclusion that Luxess face cream is effective in improving the condition of facial skin by a study of consumer responses. In this study, a group of volunteers used Luxess every morning for a month and most of people reported a great improvement of their skin. However, this survey does not constitute a logical argument in favor of its conclusion and fail to provide convincing support making this argument sound and invulnerable.
To begin with, the validity of the survey is doubtful. Lacking information about the number of volunteers surveyed and the number of respondents, it is impossible to access the result. If the survey limited to a few people who happen to have the same kind of skin, the result might be attribute to those particular individuals or that particular kinds of people. In addition, even if the study was broader, enough volunteers participating, one must consider whether it was limited in certain ways. For example, were the study responders only including young people or women? Was the survey limited to a certain city or geographic region where the weather is extremely dry or wet? Factors such as these could undermine the reliability of the study result.
Even assuming the study result is reliable, the argument remains questionable. The author's recommendation depends on the assumption that no factors other than Luxess face cream causes the improvement of the condition of facial skin. However, it is highly possible that other factors contribute this improvement. For instance, in this study, volunteers used mild soap every time they washed their faces, which might caused the result of study. It is also possible that volunteers applied other brands of face cream in the evening. It is presumptuous to suggest that the use of Luxess face cream is contribute to the improvement of facial skin.
Finally, the author falsely depends on gratuitous assumption that the skin looked and felt is the same meaning as the condition of facial skin. But common sense informed us that this assumption is a poor one, they are not the same. Condition of facial skin not only reflects on how the face looked or felt but also depends on the luster and elasticity. In addition, the condition of facial skin can't be improved only by using face cream. A healthy diet and good body is equally essential.
To sum up, this argument fails to substantiate his claim that Luxess face cream can improving the condition of facial skin because the study cited in the analysis does not lend strong support to what the author maintains. To make the argument more convincing, the author would have to provide a valid study and some detailed of it. If the argument had included the given factors discussed above, it would have been more through and logical acceptable.
