Thanks to their day-and-night dedication to truth, can we enjoy relatively mature theories and principles in comfort and at ease? Their knowledge and experience provide us a wide range of insight to deep into the realms from macrograph to micrograph. If we create more benefits than certain other generations, it is by standing upon the shoulders of our predecessors. From their wisdom and lessons we synthesize, conclude, even predict what will goes on. Even from most of dilemmas in respect to human society, can we find the model to imitate through reconstruction of the past, since humanity is ever-lasting. Whatever contradict with nature principle and humanity, no matter how strong initially, will diminish like echoes in the wind. In this sense, the speaker might conclude that what we encounter today is not as harsh as our predecessors, with full confidence and optimism.

However, we are, in fact, still confronted with dilemmas never happened before. If we cannot solve them properly and cautiously, serious consequence even disasters might fall. Examples aptly illustrate this point involve the utility of new technology. While enjoying the prosperous economic that brings by science and technology, new forms of pollution and environmental stress also become headache of us, since they are potentially damage the welfare of humans or other organisms. In the case of medical technology, vital ethical issues are readdressed and challenged. Even assuming we are spurring up by courage and wisdoms of our predecessors, these problems can scarcely be solved by methods nowadays, not alone by knowledge and experience before. Based on different developments of technology, the speaker cannot have the same level to measure the complexity of problems we face.

Although knowledge and experience are gradually accumulated, puzzlement does not lessen. As a student major in science, I cannot be more aware that most of superficial principles are easy to prove, while the great ocean of truth lay almost undiscovered before us. Some scientists working in their lifelong still hardly find any rule to follow. Nevertheless, when we do research only for its own sake, it might amount to risk squandering and deploying public resource to fight a losing battle which could have gone a long way towards addressing the pressing social problems such as rampant gang violence, hunger and so on. Because summarizing the experience cannot satisfy our needs, researches are meaningful and appealing. Meanwhile, the more knowledge we acquire, the stronger feeling about the ignorance we recognize.


In sum, without the experience of predecessors, we might still fumble and wander blindly. Yet this new era have us realize the burden we have are greater and more complex than that of ancestor. Under such circumstances, established knowledge and experience merely cover the brink of the truth. Only through continuous prove and disregarding , will problems become obvious to solve.
