The speaker asserted that too much emphasis on role models was unnecessary and thinking and acting independently contributed to better choices that can fit different circumstances, I agree with the speaker insofar, in my opinion. the spirit of independence leads to the capacity of dealing different matters while to some extent, role models which represent absorbing ideas of others are still necessary to avoid wasting of time and energy.

To begin with, less independently thinking caused by too much emphasis on role models might leads to less initiative, imagination and creativity. With all experiences that predecessors left behind, it is easy to imagine less people are willing to explore unknown fields with more energy instead of just refining existed fields. In economical fields, for most b00000000usinessmen, their ardor of exploring different methods to search more markets and broader advertising medias are so easily to be quenched when a method existed is available on those purposes, with the existed method results in quenched ardor, most businessmen stops exploring and fighting, which might cause the stasis of the whole economical development. In the art field, with the prevalence of one special style, more and more artists are willing to imitating that style and the stasis of the appearance of more crea0000tive and brilliant style are just in the way. For better development of different fields, the importance of creativity and initiative are necessary, so that the claim of less role models are impeccable.

In addition, just imitating role models simply and exactly to achieve same goals without considering other factors such as historic circumstances positions, chances and purposes, which might be essential in determining different results, is irresponsible and might be useless. For human success, no one can deny that bill Gates is a successful man in IT fields, while without the technology level, without the great potential of computers, it is irresponsible to quit college to start one’s own company. To the art extent, no one can deny that buildings in ancient Rome are magnificent, While the greatness of majestic architecture are due to the basis of ancient technology levels and materials, without this basic point, the building made of stones and clay now does not match current style of cities and is inappropriate to abandon better materials such as reinforced concrete. It is more other factors besides role models form the success of them, to achieve same goals, one should definitely distinguish the difference between role models and him, exploring what is the most appropriate way for him, and cement the tie between himself and other factors can affect results. Opinions above further reveal weakness and disadvantages of imitating role models simply and exactly.

Nevertheless, to some extent, emphasis on role models is responsible for good ends and those beneficial effects are irreplaceable. Firstly, for children, role models help them forming their characteristics and personalities. When we were children, role models with good personalities appeared from cartoons, stories, books, with models of our parents, grew up with us, helped forming right personalities, role models contributed to the formation of our characters. Secondly, in schools and workplaces, role models stirred students and workers to emulate better ones, provided them the direction to strive for, t0he competitors to contend with, which to some extent, created a better stage for people to improve themselves. Sometimes the importance of role models is obvious and plays an important role in the process of human evolvement.

To sum up, on one hand, emphasis on role models causes less interest and restricts initiative and creativity, and leads people to inappropriate imitations. On the other hand, the character role models play is beneficial for the formation of personalities of kids and the increment of competitive of students and workers. To find out what is best choice for us, we should
treat role models selectively and thoughtfully.
