I strongly agree that using images is a wonderful method of communication, especially when facing a large group of people as the speaker asserts. Yet, he made the conclusion too hastily that using images is the most effective method of communication which I have different opinion with. Images sometimes result in comprehension bias to the public. In order to make it more sensible, my point of view is discussed as follows.
For one thing, I concede that through the use of images can make the communication more effective. After all, comparing to other methods, for example, language, images have the unique advantage of brilliant colors and vivid characters, which would give the public a direct visual impression. Besides, images are specific scene, which pass the public more precise information than the abstract opinions language gives to the public which would result in comprehension bias more or less. Moreover, a considerable of images are implicit pictures, in which we could discovery more details in further analysis, which is suit for the people who dislikes the blunt way of communication. By mixing the esthetics into communication would make the public feel more pleasurable both physical and spiritual. This is why the famous pictures in Renaissance are also popular nowadays.
Even though the use of images has such a lot of benefits in communication, we should not simply assert that it is the most effective way and better than language. Admittedly, language would cause comprehension bias under certain situations. Narrators make statements with their subjective notion more or less, and result in bias when listeners try to understand the information given out. Meanwhile, language is not as vivid as images are. Yet languages are also worth to be treated as one of the most effective ways in several aspects. Firstly, using language to communicate saves quite a bit of time. We have to admit that comparing to preparing the images, saying is the most time saving way. Besides, even though it would result in bias in comprehension when making the objective statement, it also benefits the communication when doing the subjective statement and the bias disappear. Moreover, images also make comprehension bias during the communication. Some artists or photographer took their subjective view of the world into the work. For example, there are always a multitude amount of media companies taking pictures around the world to reveal the life conditions in different countries. However, when they come to countries once have negative news about the poor, starving, diseases etc. They prefer taking pictures in the slums more than the areas which would reflect the life conditions fairly.
In sum, as two of the most effective methods of communication, languages and images both have advantages and disadvantages. We could not simply make the comparison between the two without certain conditions.
