因为现在学的不是英语,所以英语退化严重,如果有语法错误,那是我自己实在没看出来,事先都已经反复看过了,恳请各位大神帮忙看看,感激不尽。

Argument 4:
题目
The following was posted on an Internet real estate discussion site.
Of the two leading real estate firms in our town---Adams Realty and Fitch Realty---Adams is clearly superior. Adams has 40 real estate agents. In contrast, Fitch has 25, many of whom work only part-time. Moreover, Adams' revenue last year was twice as high as that of Fitch, and included home sals that averaged $168,000, compared to Fitch's $144,000. Homes listed with Adams sell faster as well: ten years ago, I listed my home with Fitch and it took more than four months to sell; last year, when I sold another home, I listed it with Adams, and it took only one month. Thus, if you want to sell your home quickly and at a good price, you should use Adams.

作文
According to this passage, Adams Realty sells real estates faster than Fitch Realty, and at a good price as well. The author supports the notion by citing certain statistics about the number and working hours of the two agents, and the number and averaged sales prices of two agents. The author also gives his/her personal experience with Fitch and Adams in order to show the predominance of Adams. The argument is at first glance sound reasonable however, the argument suffers from logical flaws, and is thus not so persuasive as it stands.

Firstly, the author infers that Adams is better than Fitch partly because it has more agents than Fitch, and many of Fitch's agents work only part-time. This conclusion is based on the assumption that service quality of real estate firms is connected with the number of agents. However, no evidence shows that more agents means better service. A effective firm may not need so much agents, and it can make full use of part-time agents in order to employ less full-time agents and therefore save the salary cost. Therefore it is possible that a firm provides better service with less agents. On the other hand, the author does not give us any information about the number of Adams's part-time agents, and we can hardly make any conclusions without the accuracy statistics.

Secondly, the author try to support the conclusion by pointing out that Adams sold properties at a better price on average last year. However, the assumption could be right only when the homes sold by Adams had the same value as those sold by Fitch. Perhaps, Adams sold properties at prices lower than that they are actually worth, but the prices are still higher because those properties are much more valuable. Perhaps, Adams is located in the city center and focuses on the customers those who want to sell more expensive properties, while Fitch's core customers are selling houses that is not such valuable.

Thirdly, the author take the personal experience as a supporting evidence, but we can hardly compare the two cases, because as a decade passed, the economic environment, which has a decisive influence on the real estate market, changed. For instance, economical crisis may limit market liquidity, so that more sellers are brought about while the number of buyers reduced, and then it takes more time to sell a house. Before the author give us further information to make clear the background, we may not say that Adams sells home more quickly. In addition, a single sample not persuasive enough.

To sum up, the author prefers Adams to Fitch emotionally, but without enough statistical evidence framed logically, we cant jump to the conclusion that Adams is better than Fitch.
