嗯,加油!!:)
In college and university level, should the faculties be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions, which are relevant to the courses they teach? In supporting this argument, the speaker states that requiring faculties to work outside the academic world can improve the quality of instruction at the colleges and universities, while others utter(utterly) the opposite voice. So far as I'm concerned, I concede that it is necessary for the faculties to devote major energy into the academic world, especially the courses they teach; however, it is also strongly recommended that they should work outside the academic world in professions that are relevant to their courses.
Admittedly, in keeping a stable quality of instruction, it is necessary for the universities and colleges to require their faculties to set focus in their professional field. In terms of education function, college and university not only foster students' basic learning skill, but (also) guide them to do researches and to explore the unknown world by themselves. Thus, the teaching content in tertiary education is hard and more complicated than ever before. This needs the teachers to be familiar and have deep insight in their academic fields; otherwise, they couldn't accomplish the teaching task and guarantee the instruction quality. Therefore, in order to ensure a stable instruction quality, it is necessary for the faculties to devote much time and energy in their academic field.
However, when it comes to improve the quality of instruction, only be specialized in one's own academic field is insufficient. In fact, if one faculty becomes too constrained in the academic world, his eyesight(Vision?) will be narrowed. Without the experience about practical world, faculties can't learn the real need of the society. Besides, as long as the society is enjoying a fascinating fast development, textbooks easily go out of date. Under such circumstances, faculties who put only focus in academic world will become obsolete soon, needless to say keeping stable instruction quality.
Indeed, to truly improve the quality of instruction requires the faculties to spend time working outside the academic world; and this will bring some benefits. First, in working with the outside world, faculties come to know the practical needs and real problems in the society, thus they can taught this in classes, which makes the teaching contents more valuable. Second, they can share the working experience, which are precious for the students living in campus. In fact, many current college students are complaining that the knowledge taught by schools is useless after graduation. To some extent, this puzzle can be settled by enhancing communication between schools and society, so that encouraging faculties to work in the society is required. After all, the ultimate goal(too extrem may be?) of the education is fostering students the ability to survive in the society, where competition is so fierce.
In conclusion, in order to reach the education goal and improve the instruction quality as the college and university level, faculties should spend time working outside their academic world to do some professions relevant to the courses they teach.(only one sentence to end , a little risky)
I think the analysis of this article is thoroughly , but I can not find any vivid example to support the point , without some real cases , the article is a little bit dry to read . the structure is clear. but I think it toosimple |
