TOPIC: ISSUE50 - "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

If we compare our society as tree, the college faculty  will be the tree trunk which helps to pass the nutrition from root to branch and leaves and support the growth .The role of college faculty is not simple , it is combined teacher and researcher and director all together . As teacher , they help to pass the fresh knowledge and useful technology from test book to our mind ; As researcher , they investigate the new area , solve complicated task and invent new method ,all this will support development of our society ; As director , they give us instruction to help us find our way in life ,let us know which part should we play in this world , to a branch or to be the leaves

I do partial agree with the topic that for certain major and discipline , it is better for college faculty to have  out of academic experience which relevant to their research area or the course by their teaching. On the other hand, for the other research areas which can be known as pure academic areas, like fundamental mathematics, there is no need to force college teacher to find their role out of campus or institute . First, there is no such position in the application world can suit some who devoted to pure theory discipline. Second , it’s really waste of time for pure academic scholars to spend their precious time out of academic which will do no good to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level.  Besides all these points , another question worth us to consider carefully is do we emphasis too much the importance of application and neglect to understand the principle of certain methods and techniques ?

As I mentioned above ,for some subjects , it is crucial for the teacher to have some experience in relevant industry . One significant merit of teacher compare to the test book is that they can teach student things which can not be written down. Take the faculty of business school as an example ,especially for major like financial management .The student who want to be a financial analyst in future need to take a course called Standard of Ethics which will educated student to obey the law and operate money with moral standard. Even though the test book for this course is thin , the content of it can never be measure, the teacher usually take the whole semester to go through the curriculum and explain it with real cases. Like one of the principle is “always keep independent and objective”, this sentence is easy if a student can get in to business, he or she will definitely have no trouble to understand it. But in real market , what kinds situation can bother your independent thinking? Would you lost you objective in front a huge amount commission offered by your client? The real world is too complicated , you will never know it ,if you are not an member in it. So the teacher of this course always take a passion in brokerage company or investment bank at the same time , and the college and university require the faculty for this course have lots of experience in real market too. Besides business school , the same situation is not hard to find in Medical school , law school and so on.

However , the case is quite opposite for some other discipline which need the faculty high concentrate in the area .The last and least thing they need is distraction . This kind of subject can not benefit society directly , so it is really hard to find specific position for them out of academic , but without these pure academic discipline, the world won’t be the way as we can see today . Without profound result come from theoretical physics , there won’t be nuclear power nowadays ; Without abstract research do by philosophies
, we will never know the beauty of logical and how our thought build our world. And job for the faculty in these area is to educated student focus on the area can became scholar and researcher which is as academic as their teacher one day. Thus , there is no need for faculty in these discipline to have out of academic experience .

No matter what kinds of course a teacher teach , let’s do not forget the most important role for college faculty is educator . They need to spend sufficient time to prepare the content of course , to check the home work , to make class more vivid and interesting , to update the test book as soon as possible. If they over spend time out of academic , it is highly possible the quality of their course will decline.

In the end , as Rome is not built in one day , to make a good college or university need tons of effects too. With thousands of department and schools and disciplines , the complicity of university is not less then a society . So put out a policy as procrustean in bed isn’t wise .The faculty is the essences of college , the manager of university should fully understand the characteristic of each discipline , then find a way to improve the quality of instruction with out hurting either side.

看这个题目我感觉应该是要思想层面有一定的深度才好，应为大陆化得写作思路肯定是又好又不好

总评一下：优点俺就不说了，词汇量之类的积累性的东西都蛮好的。不过语言缺乏条理。其次就是论证的层次有点模糊，我也有这个问题:)
