论点：作者的观点太绝对了。
首先每个国家每个民族对于most persistent social problems 的理解不同。地域差异，文化理解差异，经济水平差异，领导人及其民众的认知差异。而对于不同的国家来说，他们的经济水平科研实力都不一样，你能要求一个本身也没几所大学的小国家也投入巨大精力去做这件事。
其次，建立这样一个大学未必有效。将这么多的学生聚在一起，效果反而可能适得其反。这样虽然将一所大学的实力大大增强，但是却失去了文化的多元化。学生们的思考模式也可能会变得单一。很多问题得不到解决，并不是缺乏人去研究它，缺乏人去寻找方法。更多的是因为人与人之间的不信任，国家与国家之间的矛盾冲突。如哥本哈根会议和核问题。

Nowadays,population problem,global warming,nuclear weapon and other problems are threatening our society.The speaker's suggestion that all nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage
students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems is .However,he or she ignored some factors such as different understands of social problems and whether it's an effective way to build such a university which definitely have a great influence on the result.
First ,it is hard to define what is most persistent social problems.Affected by the different environment and educated by the distinctive culture,every country and even every ethnic group has his own opinion on this argument.Facing the rising sea level,people of island  nation such as Tuyalu whose land is becoming smaller and smaller insist that global warming should be a priority problem.While people in Africa want the society pay more attention to their poverty and medical care problem.At the same time ,people who focus on their children's education and employment first is estimated to a high proportion in other countries.So it is not an easy work for the speaker to decide which are the most persistent social problems for the university to solve.Further more ,the speaker mentioned that all countries which means every country should take part in the plan of building an university.But it is really hard for those to make a great contribution who even can not afford an university himself.So the speaker did not take the factor into consideration that people in different country have different opinions on the problem and what they can do are also not the same.
Secondly,whether building a university is helpful to solving the social problems is a new problem.By engaging students into one school and stick at the social problems,it seems appealing that it is an effective way.But he did not realize that suggestion may be harmful to the school's academic level.All the students are taught by the same teachers and working on the same problems in one university.Which may damage the variety of academic opinions and restrict the students' thinking modes.Compared with another mode that more smaller schools in different country,maybe one university is not a more effective way to solve the social problems .In retrospect of our history,great academic accomplishment and technology advances are  more easily achieved in the age of revolution and by the discussion between universities.
         And another important detail which should be paid attention to is whether it is necessary to build a new university to solve the problems.Many problems remained as a result of the incredibility and contradiction between us but for the reason that we still have no idea what to do with them.For example,the leaders from all the world did not reach an agreeable agreement  in Copenhagen

meeting which means global warming still can not be solved well.We know what to do with the problem but people all over the world can not cooperate well in solving the problems.Every leader put their country's benefit  first which related to the people more tightly.Another example is the nuclear problems.Lacking credibility with others ,many country keep nuclear weapon as their trump card which cost a lot of resources.We still can not come up with a good idea  even the university proved that every country have better destroy their nuclear weapons for the pease of the world.
       To sum up,the speaker make the conclusion in a hurry.He or she did not take some factors into consideration such as people from different country do not care about the same thing and whether one university speed the progress of solving social problems. So feasibility and necessity of the suggestion remains another problem for us.
